Technical Artist (Contract)
Location San Diego Studios
As an Technical Artist working on MLB The Show, you will effectively collaborate with a wide-range of development team members outside of your direct discipline, such as the Art Director, Art Leads, Designers, Technical Artists, Programmers and Producers, to optimally achieve artistic goals and implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Create and help maintain the digital content creation pipelines related to environment production and asset creation
- Work with environment artists to create procedural/non-destructive content creation tools and workflows
- Work with tool developers to augment and enhance content creation and level tools
- Collaborate with the Art and Programming teams to help integrate Houdini with Maya and our proprietary engine
- Optimize environment assets to meet memory budgets
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed
Requirements & Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in the game industry as a Technical Artist (AAA environment/level focused preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Graphic Art or a related field or equivalent experience
- Maya scripting experience in Python and MEL
- Excellent knowledge of Maya and Houdini
- Excellent understanding of game workflows, pipelines and optimization
- A portfolio showcasing pipeline processes, tools and scripts that produce high-quality optimized game assets
- Excellent communication, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
Bonus Skills:
- Knowledge of C#/C++, JavaScript
- Excellent knowledge\experience with Houdini
- Experience with Simplygon or equivalent
- Experience with SpeedTree
- Knowledge of and passion for baseball
