What We Do
Power all things data across Epic Games. We provide the services and systems that enable people throughout the company to make data informed decisions. Whether it’s understanding the health of our backend systems, how well a new feature is doing, or map balance in Fortnite; it’s all powered by this team. We are responsible for data ingestion, real time systems powered off data streams, as well as landing and then sanitizing all the data in the data lake.
What You'll Do
Epic Games is looking for a Senior Engineering Lead to manage our Analytics Data Platform Engineering team and help shape the foundation that our big data platform sits on. This is a newly formed team within the data group, which will be focused on building the systems that power the broad set of analytics use cases within Epic.
In this role, you will
- Work with the other leaders in the data organization to establish clear lines of accountability and ownership between the different groups
- Influence and help to define the product roadmap for your team
- Work closely with the engineers on the team to ensure high quality deliverables.
- Foster a healthy and collaborative team environment, setting the tone for the team
- Manage the performance and career growth of members of the team
- Be responsible for pulling together the initial team of engineers tackling this problem
What we're looking for
- Experience and familiarity with big data tools and services, such as Kafka, Hive, JVM languages (Kotlin a plus), AWS, Hadoop, Presto, Spark, S3, Flink or similar
- Ideal candidate has experience working with Kubernetes or similar containerized deployment model
- Exceptional management skills required, including successfully leading a team through growth and change
- Prior experience leading engineers working on solving data challenges at scale
- Experience contributing towards a strategic roadmap for a data platform, able to articulate their contributions and how they were influential in driving data forward in previous roles
- Must have experience building and executing against a strategic hiring plan, ensuring the team is adequately resourced to execute against the roadmap
- Must have experience successfully collaborating with internal teams, as well as working with stakeholders across the organization
