Engine Tech Lead

coherence is a tech startup in the games industry, working on leveling the playing field for multiplayer games. We are making a network engine and platform that allows any developer to easily create anything from a simple multiplayer game to a large, cloud-based virtual world. Read more about coherence here.

Become a leading part of our core engineering team and help us build the next generation open source platform for building virtual worlds.

You will make our protocols and tech more scalable, faster, leaner and more reliable. You will build new features, optimize existing ones and influence the vision for our data-oriented technology stack.

You will contribute to software architecture, APIs, flows, product definition in various areas of the core network and backend technology of our platform. You'll work closely with our CTO, network programmers, backend programmers and the rest of the engineering team to help design, develop, deploy and maintain our code.

Responsibilities

• Lead programming role
• Help influence the vision and direction of the product
• Software architecture and design
• Use Go and C# to work on the core parts of the network engine and tools

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who has:

• 7+ years of experience in relevant programming positions (various industries)
• Network programming
• Backend programming (think Go, C, C++, Rust, etc: not PHP)
• Relevant industries with real-time data protocols: e.g. telecommunications

Bonus points

• Relevant lead programmer or tech lead experience
• Good command of Go
• Games industry experience
• Passionate about open source
