A Game Editor works with the Head of Writing to hone the writing for Wooga’s story-driven games. A good editor isn’t just a stickler for grammar, but has a strong sense for tone, pacing, character voice, consistency, and storytelling. They are able to work closely with writing teams to understand the narrative goals of a project and with the Head of Writing to understand and implement company-wide narrative best practices. Some of your responsibilities include:
- Reviews and makes editing recommendations to writers for character voice, consistency, clarity, context, and brevity
- Strengthens the structure, characters, and pacing of stories in development
- Edits in-game text for accurate grammar, spelling and style
- Edits marketing material, app store text, & web text, when needed
- Maintains consistent style for all player-facing text using general reference materials and internal style guides
- Checks game continuity and facts
About you
- Minimum of two years related experience or professional editing certification
- Excellent grammar, spelling, editing, and proofreading skills (U.S. English)
- Acute attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to communicate editorial changes constructively and professionally
- Undergraduate degree in English or equivalent experience
