Sous la supervision du Directeur artistique ou du Chef d’équipe technique et en collaboration avec l’équipe programmation et l’équipe artistique, l’artiste technique conçoit les outils et développe un pipeline de production graphique optimal pour soutenir le processus créatif de son équipe. Il s’assure de répondre aux attentes artistiques/de design en adéquation avec les contraintes de performances et de délais de production.

Responsabilités et tâches principales :

• Travailler en collaboration avec l’équipe de production artistique, le directeur artistique et les différents chefs d’équipe afin de concevoir un pipeline de production efficace essentiel au bon maintien de la vision globale du jeu
• Identifier et résoudre les problèmes liés au processus de création artistique
• Analyser les contraintes et les besoins, et définir les directives techniques en les communiquant clairement à l’ensemble de l’équipe
• Proposer des méthodes de production efficaces respectant ces directives et les budgets/contraintes initiales (mémoire/taille du jeu)
• Créer, maintenir et documenter les outils/scripts dédiés aux besoins de la production
• Former les artistes à ces nouvelles techniques de production et s’assurer qu’elles soient compatibles avec les contraintes du moteur de jeu
• S’assurer de la compatibilité des éléments produits avec les différentes plateformes cibles, s’assurer de leur bonne intégration et de leur impact sur les performances
• Assurer la veille technologique propre aux processus techniques et artistiques
• Maintenir un standard de qualité supérieur

Gameloft Montreal is seeking a new technical artist to join the team working on DISNEY DREAMLIGHT VALLEY, a brand cross-platform hybrid life-sim/adventure game already in early access! Rich with quests, exploration, and engaging activities featuring iconic Disney and Pixar friends, Disney Dreamlight Valley is a 100%-original Gameloft Montreal production, designed by a passionate team just waiting for you to join them!

Under the supervision of the art director or the technical lead, and working closely with the programming and art teams, the technical artist designs tools and develops an optimal graphics production pipeline to support their team's creation process. They make sure to meet any artistic/design expectations, in keeping with performance constraints and production deadlines.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Working in collaboration with the art production team, the art director, and the various team leads to create an efficient production pipeline essential to maintaining a big-picture perspective of the game
• Identifying and resolving issues related to the process of artistic creation
• Analyzing constraints and needs, and defining technical directives while sharing them in a clear manner with the whole team
• Suggesting efficient production methods that are in keeping with the initial guidelines and budgets/constraints (game memory/size)
• Creating, maintaining and documenting tools/scripts dedicated to production needs
• Training artists in new production techniques and ensuring that those methods are compatible with the constraints of the game engine
• Making sure that the elements produced are compatible with the various target platforms and that they are properly integrated and have the intended impact on performance
• Ensuring that there is proper monitoring of the technical and artistic processes
• Maintaining a superior level of quality

Qualifications

• multiplateformes (Console/PC, Mobile)
• Maîtrise des différents progiciels de production graphique 3D/2D et infrastructures de production (moteur Unity 3D/Unreal)
• Culture visuelle étendue et intérêt porté aux innovations récentes dans le domaine (techniques de shading temps réel/effets spéciaux numériques en post-production/recherche académique)
• Adaptation/polyvalence à différents styles/univers graphiques
• Connaissance des solutions d’édition de matériaux/géométrie et intérêt pour les flux paramétriques (Substance Designer/Houdini)
• Connaissance des principaux langages de script utilisés en production (C#, Python, Mel/Maxscript, Lua, VEX, etc.)
• Connaissance du processus des langages de production graphique classiques (GLSL, HLSL, CG…)
• Connaissances mathématiques avancées (algèbre, calcul matriciel, différentiel, intégral), un atout
• Parfaite compréhension des modèles de rendu/d’éclairage classique et physique (PBR)
• Maîtrise des fondamentaux en modélisation, texturage et production de VFX et post FX
• Capacité à vulgariser des idées complexes ou techniques
• Esprit analytique, capable de persévérer pour résoudre des problèmes complexes
• Bon sens organisationnel et excellente communication/écoute

• Excellent understanding of rendering and lighting techniques, and complete knowledge of engine-related constraints in cross-platform productions (console/PC, mobile)
• Mastery of the various 3D/2D graphic-production software packages and production infrastructures (Unity/Unreal engines)
• Broad knowledge of the visual arts and interest in recent innovation within the field (real-time shading techniques, digital special effects in post-production, academic research)
• Versatile and able to adapt to various visual styles/worlds
• Knowledge of material-authoring/geometry solutions and interest in parametric flows (Substance Designer, Houdini)
• Understanding of the main scripting languages used in production (C#, Python, MEL/MAXscript, Lua, VEX, etc.)
• Knowledge of the process behind conventional graphics-production languages (GLSL, HLSL, CG, etc.)
• Advanced knowledge of mathematics (algebra; matrix, integral and differential calculus) is an asset
• Complete understanding of the classic and physical (PBR) rendering/lighting models
• Mastery of the basics of modeling, texturing, and VFX and post-effects production
• Able to simplify complex or technical ideas
• Analytical nature, able to persevere until complex problems are solved
• Flair for organization and an excellent ability to communicate/listen
