We're looking for a Director of Product to join us and lead our Communities Product Management team. You will responsible for creating and driving the vision for our Communities product across the company, crafting a strategy, building and socializing a multi-team roadmap, ideating creative solutions, and building a product team to advance our mission towards Communities on Discord.
What you'll be doing
- Guide the product philosophy, vision, and strategy for products and features that make Discord the best place to hang out with friends online.
- Attract, build, manage, and develop a team of talented product managers to help our users to talk to each other in their favorite places.
- Manage multiple products and priorities, scale teams, and ensure your org is effective, healthy and set up for success by establishing clear and measurable goals.
- Clearly communicate roadmaps, priorities, experiments and decisions across a wide spectrum of audiences from partner teams to executive levels.
- Lead a cross-functional organization of engineers, designers, and data scientists to build delightful outstanding growth systems, tools and products.
- Partner with cross-functional teams across our organization, such as Design, Engineering, Revenue Product, Core Product, Communities Marketing, Business Development, and others.
- Empathize, engage and cultivate relationships with our users — especially Communities and their “Modmins” — to deeply understand their needs.
What you should have
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, excited about finding solutions to complex problems, and then executing on them.
- 10+ years of experience building and shipping great software, including responsibilities driving prioritization, trade-offs, and timelines.
- 4+ years of experience hiring, managing, and developing both individual contributors and senior product leaders.
- 6+ years of experience focused on consumer, social, community, or communication products.
- Proven track record of achieving impact through empowering customers with innovative solutions.
- Proven ability to analyze and synthesize data in order to set strategic goals.
- Experience presenting to senior executive audiences.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency and effectiveness working closely with engineers and designers.
- Passionate about helping people build connections on the internet.

- Hands-on experience managing and growing an online community
- Early stage startup experience, especially as a co-founder
- Experience building and leading 0→1 social engagement products
- Experience in product or interaction design
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant technical experience

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $301,000 to $331,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
