About the Team:
The Business Operations (“BizOps”) team is a nimble and highly impactful team that provides critical guidance, insights and strategic frameworks to the senior leaders responsible for our various functions and business units. The team operates like an internal consulting group to define and drive strategic, operational and organizational improvements across the company, creating the foundational business infrastructure that enables the company to efficiently scale.
Performance Expectations:
- Build a "mission control" center for Skillz; ensuring critical cross-functional metrics are visible to and actionable by appropriate parties to inform strategic decisions, escalations and execute against OKRs
- Serve as the day-to-day functional lead for Business Operations, simultaneously owning several critical operations initiatives while coaching and mentoring other team members
- Review and refine department KPIs/SLAs; partner with FP&A to update company dashboards and improve our understanding of business health
- Work cross-functionally to operationalize strategic growth initiatives on time (>85% hit their projected deadline and those that don't are no more than 10% late) and on budget (Budget vs Actual of <2% of spend forecast)
- Partner with, build relationships, and manage horizontally across the leadership team to establish the cross-functional workflows needed to deliver on our operating plan
Your Skillz:
- Experienced Ops Leader - 10+ years of work experience across consulting/banking (4+ years) and in operations (6+ years) for ops intensive tech companies
- Master of Information - Establishes the right rules of engagement that promote effective and concise information synthesis/sharing/consumption, enabling departments and individuals to understand and respond in an effective manner to top company priorities
- Strategic Planner - Proven ability to run and deliver results on large-scale, complex technical projects across several sites under tight deadlines through rigorous planning and ruthless prioritization
- Structured Problem Solver - Able to create & apply frameworks to solve problems and bring the appropriate level of structure that will help improve the overall operational excellence of the organization
- Results Oriented - Able to effectively operate with flexibility in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment and drive the team to outstanding results
- Builds Strong Teams - Able to build and manage lean teams with outsized company impact
