About the Role:

Are you a proven engineering leader who is passionate about and leads your teams to build software with operational excellence? Are you an effective teambuilder who also builds collaborative partnerships with other leaders? Do you have strong opinions but are also able to listen and learn from others? If so, apply to become the Director, Operational Excellence at Twitch! You will run a growing 15-20+ person team of program and product managers, engineers, and data analysts, and is located under our central Platforms and Services organization. Your mission would be to provide tools, processes and guidance to all of engineering to ensure higher availability and resiliency, reduce tech debt, and balance cost efficiency and capacity across all of Twitch.

You will report to the VP, Builder Platform and Operational Excellence at Twitch. This role may be remote, or located within our primary offices in San Francisco or Seattle.

You Will:

• Build a strong organization along with strong relationships with stakeholder and customer teams
• Partner with senior engineering and business leaders to identify new areas of strategic investment
• Create a bold vision and creative strategy for helping Twitch improve in multiple aspects of operational excellence
• Oversee central programs and initiatives that set goals and track our engineering teams' progress
• Identify opportunities for automation and reporting that benefits engineers and leaders, and build or partner with other teams to deliver
• Become part of the Platforms & Services leadership team, as well as Twitch Engineering leadership more broadly
• Provide expertise on process improvements and tools designed to increase engineering productivity

You Have:

• 8+ years experience as an software engineering manager/director
• Strong technical acumen--actively participate and contribute to technical discussions, proactively identify challenges and risks, working closely with engineers and product managers on addressing challenges, and forming mitigation plans
• Experience defining cross-organizational/company-wide strategy including driving alignment across engineering VPs/directors
• Focus on results and outcome, not just process--you have experience establishing processes that are appropriate.
• Creative problem solver that proactively takes initiative
• Strong sense of ownership. Proactively remove program obstacles and willing to go above and beyond to chase down loose ends

The pay range for this position in Colorado and Connecticut is $ 120,000- $ 160,0000 yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay Act and CT House Bill Number 6380. Base pay information is based on market location.
