Director of LiveOps (must have XP working in video game industry)

Our team at Stoic, 4-time BAFTA nominated independent video game company, is seeking a Director of Live Operations (LiveOps) for our next project. You will help us take the project from pre-production through launch, and into live support.

As the Director of LiveOps you will be responsible for helping Stoic launch and manage our upcoming live game. You will partner with the Game Director, Production, and Product Manager to plan roadmaps, lead and release post-launch content, participate in defining the game's future, and work with Community and Player Support to enhance our Live and Social presence. Additionally, you will partner with the Product Manager to analyze and report on player engagement and sentiment, plan new premium content, and analyze monetization performance with an ethical eye.

The ideal candidate has been in a LiveOps leadership role and has a strong player-first, ethical mindset. This individual demonstrates a clear understanding of player motivations and is able to lead the cross-functional departments (Design, Product, Community, Customer Serve) as a single team.

What you'll do

• Define, communicate, optimize, and execute the Live strategy
• Partner with Product to monitor, analyze, and ethically improve product KPIs
• Partner with Product and the Game Director to define and evaluate premium offerings for players
• Partner with the Live Producer and Game Director to own the long-and-short-term features & tools roadmap
• Partner with Live Production, Product, and Design to plan, build, and deploy Live Events and promotions, needed features, and improvements
• Work with Product and Analysts to assess, quantify, and present the outcomes of said features, events, and promotions
• Partner with the Community Manager to help drive offline engagement and improve player sentiment
• Partner with Customer Service and Product to swiftly identify emerging trends and concerns
• Work with the Live Producer to continuously improve pipelines and processes
• Cultivating the skills of those working with you, constantly finding opportunities to help them improve their craft

Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Live Operations leader in PC/Console or Mobile
• Thorough understanding of data analysis and time tested, player first, outcomes
• Deep understanding of economy and monetization design in a Live service game
• Proven success with developing and deploying Live content (events, store updates, etc.)
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and through others to deliver business results
• Ability to influence direction, without relying on positional authority
• Passion for Live games--you currently, and actively, play a Live game and can deconstruct and speak confidently about it
• You must have an ethical mind concerning monetization and player retention, please don't try to convince us to add paid gacha systems
• Previous experience in mentoring and managing Product Managers and/or Designers

Bonus points

• A love for interacting with your "customers" (internal Leads, stakeholders, and most importantly, our players)
• A background of previous game development experience, preferably in Design and/or Product Management
• Demonstrable knowledge of data analysis and reporting
• Extensive knowledge of live operations and monetization trends within the free-to-play business model

$150,000 - $180,000 USD
