ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Director of Human Resources at Mythical Games will build an HR department from the ground up, reporting directly to the COO as one of the most critical hires at the company. We’re looking for an accomplished HR influencer with the ability to build, maintain and refine Mythical Games policies, programs and infrastructure that support people and culture at the company as we grow. We’re looking for someone autonomous and inspiring, a true go-getter who wants to lead at a growing startup.. As the company grows you’ll look back and say “I helped build this company.”
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Work with leadership to develop and build an HR department from the ground up.
- Work with leaders to understand their organization and people needs, build effective HR strategies to support those needs and execute on plans with actions that tie back to the team’s goals and HR objectives
- Drive HR initiatives like executive coaching, employee relations, incentive and compensation actions, culture development, organizational design, employee communications, performance management and people development
- Act as the strategic advisor to leadership and, through coaching and advice, elevate the rest of executives into the best managers and leaders that they can be
- Help manage our people metrics. What do we measure, why do we measure it, and what do we do with our insights?
- Lead us in maintaining compliance with federal and state laws (e.g. keeping an eye on employment categorizations). Propose changes as necessary, and always be the voice of reason and fairness.
- Support employees up, down, and across the organization when it comes to tricky people matters
- Help to manage total rewards benefits plans and identify new benefits offerings as the team continues to grow
- Manage yearly open enrollment process, payroll, and benefits administration; evaluate new vendors and partners as necessary
- Develop talent and succession plans; investigate trends from talent assessments and leadership input to address capability/succession gaps; ensure talent plans are referenced and used throughout the year
- Assess/Identify HR strategy/policy/process improvements as needed and implement them.
WHO YOU ARE:
- 8+ years of Human Resources or People Operations function
- In depth understanding of People/HR best practices
- Demonstrated understanding of compliance issues, including federal, state, and municipal employment laws
- Experience crafting and managing compensation practices
- Strong HR systems background (think HRIS, benefits, payroll). Ideally, you’ve rolled out at least one program from scratch, and led a migration from one system to another.
- High level of integrity and ability to use good judgement
- Strong people management and coaching skills
- Excellent communication skills
NICE TO HAVES
• Previous experience working at a startup where you had to define and grow an HR organization
