Activision is looking for a Director of Global PR to help drive communications and community engagement through conversation and creative storytelling for Call of Duty: Mobile. The person who will succeed in this role has a self-starter attitude, who can take both a traditional and non-traditional approaches to secure press opportunities. The person must be a detail-oriented multitasker, who can work with a data-driven focus. The ideal candidate has at least eight to 10 years of game PR experience in-house or at an agency, coordinated with international teams, mastered cross-functional relationship building, and successfully launched entertainment properties. Strategic thinking, familiarity with the latest communications techniques, and the ability to advocate for communications need to stakeholders across the organization are vital.
This person will be responsible for developing Call of Duty: Mobile’s global PR and communications strategy while working closely and collaboratively with our publishing, game development, in-house, and agency partners worldwide. The role will be responsible for ongoing media relations, developer interaction, message development, communications planning, trend pitching, crisis communications, managing relevant asset creation, and data-driven reporting that informs strategic thinking.
Responsibilities
- Develop the global Call of Duty: Mobile PR communications strategy and plans reporting directly to the Senior Director of PR for Call of Duty
- Serve as the primary PR point of contact for internal and external partners through pre-launch, launch, and live ops phases
- Work closely with the internal influencer, owned social media, and esports leads to ensure streamlined and strategic communications and executions
- Partner with cross-functional regional and global publishing teams, including teams based in China to transform goals into actionable strategies
- Manage and partner with global PR agencies for creative executions, program management and reporting duties
- Manage PR-related analytics by creating, maintaining, and delivering coverage reports, recaps, and strategic executive summaries using data-driven insights
- Foster positive media relationships; secure top-tier earned coverage consistently by successfully pitching relevant and engaging story concepts and provide counsel for various press opportunities, including larger trend/feature stories
- Lead discussions and executions on product milestone communication timing and strategy, coordinating across different departments and regions
- Participate in discussions around overall brand positioning, communications pillars, overall strategic planning, as well as tone and content strategy
- Compose accurate, well-written press materials (e.g., plans, press distributions, pitch letters, Q&As, fact sheets, and proactive/reactive messaging)
- Support media training and press briefings of spokespeople and staff interviews, industry events, and press interactions
- Potentially travel domestically and internationally, as applicable
Qualifications
- A minimum of 8-10 years of PR communications experience, strong experience in mobile games is preferred
- Strategic thinker with a strong media relations background and proven placement results
- Able to identify and prioritize potential news opportunities to deliver a balanced brand conversation
- Able to compose and edit a variety of creative, business-oriented, and regional-based communications
- Strong interpersonal skills, and multi-task on multiple levels
- Highly detail-oriented and driven to consistently meet deadlines
- Strong team player, able to balance and blend various department needs and views into effective product-PR strategy
- Able to work with other teams to complement and support each other’s plans and objectives and determine how plan fit the bigger picture
- Crisis-management experience with the ability to provide strategic insight on how gameplay experiences will impact global audiences
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Business, or equivalent work
