DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Schell Games is looking for a Director of Finance to join our Operations and Finance team. This position will report to the Chief Operating Officer, and manage the Accounting and Finance team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience collaborating with and leading small finance teams, willing to both develop and execute strategy.

Direct report(s): Senior Financial Controller

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Work with executive and senior management to execute and align future strategy and vision within the accounting department and the studio, acting as a prime exemplar of cross-discipline collaboration
  • Spearhead studio financial forecasting by identifying, measuring, and reporting regularly on financial key performance indicators (KPI’s)
  • Assist operational leadership in advanced budget creation
  • Review quarterly financial statements and results, implementing quarterly variance reporting, tracking against established budget in order to dynamically adjust financial forecast
  • Regularly provide feedback that improves the studio and the department to studio leadership, presenting potential risk areas to senior management using data to drive key business decisions
  • Develop, implement, and ensure financial policies and procedures in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations
  • Establish and review internal controls to support the studio financial infrastructure
  • Assist operational leadership in goal setting, coaching, and support for the finance team
  • Collaborate with accounting team to oversee the studio’s analysis and preparation of financial statements, including schedules for tax compliance
  • Collaborate with operational team to prepare all supporting information for annual audits with approved external auditor
  • Collaborate with accounting team to oversee financial accounting systems for payroll, cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash
  • Quickly address conflicts and frequently identify and resolve issues before they expand while empathizing with those involved

REQUIREMENTS:

  • ~10 years of progressive financial management within similar corporate size/industry
  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent licensure preferred

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

  • BS in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
