The Nitty-Gritty:
Big Viking Games is on the hunt for someone to join our team as our new Director of Finance. This key position reports to the CEO and is responsible for budgeting, forecasting and overseeing all activities related to accounting and cash flow. The Director of Finance is a key strategic advisor to the Senior Management Leadership team. The position of Controller reports into this position.
The Duties:
- Provide direction, strategic advice and counsel to the CEO to ensure overall achievement of the financial objectives, goals, and strategies for the organization
- Develop annual Operating Plans and forecasts
- Participate in the development of strategic plan
- Review business results with the Senior Management Leadership team and external stakeholders
- Recommend actions to ensure attainment of financial business objectives
- Manage, mentor and guide a team consisting of Controller and Junior Accountant
- Manage cash and be responsible for all external relationships with financial institutions
- Oversee all Canadian and Ontario government grant initiatives and remain informed of trends and changes among funders and government entities
- Participate in the preparation of annual audited financial statements and maintain relationship with external auditors
- Work with the CEO to raise equity and drive additional growth
- Assist in other duties as required
The Must Haves:
- Bachelor's degree in a business related field, or MBA
- 10 years of progressive financial management experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as senior finance leader in the tech sector, ideally in gaming / digital entertainment
- Team player who works and communicates effectively with the leadership team
- Ability to analyze complex problems and recommend solutions
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
- Strong Excel skills: vlookup, sumif, pivot tables, etc (VBA a plus)
- CPA, CMA designation an asset
- Working knowledge of SAGE would be an asset
- Scale-up experience strongly preferred
- Excellent proven leadership and communication skills
- Ability to think strategically and solve problems
