Director of Engineering

Illumix is an integrated gaming and technology company, transforming the future of mixed reality with environmentally-intelligent, world-scale AR games.

We are looking for a Director who is passionate about team building and driving quality results in a fast-paced environment. You will engage and develop engineers on your team, and guide their efforts as they undertake a wide variety of technical challenges. Your excellent communication and decision making capabilities enable you to own the technical direction of new augmented reality games in a dynamic and collaborative startup environment.

You are passionate about building scalable and high-performing teams of engineers. You will lead, manage, and contribute code with a team of passionate engineers to build cutting-edge mobile AR games. You will take initiative to improve processes as well as code quality through means such as regular mentorship and code reviews. You will oversee and execute on all aspects of the project life-cycle, from ideation to specification to release.

Responsibilities

• Partner across other departments including product, design, art, and production to ensure high quality, on-time solutions that address business needs
• Build and lead a team of engineers through hiring, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development
• Ownership over engineering decisions and responsibility on the technical success of the projects
• Stay hands-on in the code and contribute to the on-going development efforts
• Develop, track, and drive improvement towards goals and KPIs for quality and team performance
• Provide updates to stakeholders and executive team on a regular basis

Requirements

• 3+ years in engineering leadership role involving management of engineers
• 8+ years experience as an engineer at a professional studio
• Shipped 3+ successful games, including at least one mobile title
• Proven track record of building out successful engineering teams
• Strong understanding of software design / architecture with background in building scalable, secure, and preformant applications using industry best practices
• Familiarity with Unity3D
• Exposure to both frontend and backend development
• BS or above in computer science, or a related technical field
