Director of Engineering, Frostbite Continuous Development

Frostbite is EA's state-of-the-art multi-platform game development engine, powering games such as Battlefield, FIFA, Madden, Plants vs. Zombies, Need for Speed, Anthem, and Star Wars Battlefront II.

We are looking for a Director of Engineering for the Frostbite Continuous Delivery team.

The mission of the Continuous Delivery team is to help all developers in Electronic Arts to contribute high-quality changes to the Frostbite engine and for game teams and other partners to rapidly adopt those changes. The Continuous Delivery team achieves this by developing and operating state-of-the-art tools, workflows, partnerships, and services.

What you will do as a Frostbite Director of Engineering

Reporting to a VP of Engineering, you will manage the Continuous Delivery team, a culturally diverse and geographically distributed (Canada, Stockholm, Melbourne,..) team of software engineers..

• You will develop the tools to allow rapid, high-quality iteration of the Frostbite engine.
• You will develop and run a continuous delivery process and technology as a live service, including our engineering workflows, and build and test farms and release strategies.
• You will build a team that can sustainably deliver and improve its ability to deliver. Hiring, mentoring, performance management, training, and rewarding your team.
• You will work in distributed/remote development across multiple locations and manage people remotely.
• You know how to get the best out of a diverse team of people even when delivery pressure is high.
• You will use contractors, vendors, and internal partners to help the team scale.
• You lead your team to accomplish agreed-upon commitments, including features and performance measures
• You will work with game teams to agree on development and release strategies, including work on or close to our active development lines.

We're looking for

• Experience in enterprise size companies developing software at scale
• Experience developing for multiple platforms
• 15+ years leading teams in one or more of software development, quality and DevOps
• Someone understanding the value of a healthy work environment

Professional interactions expected

• Report to the VP of Engineering
• Work with other Frostbite Directors of Engineering, Game Team Partners and Quality Assurance to ensure that we have a the engineering workflows to deliver quality changes.
• Work with the Program & Product management team to help build solid plans for the next iteration and track the progress of commitments for this quarter
• Work with the Frostbite Architecture team to influence and align with Frostbite's technical strategy
• With IT for dependent systems including hardware farms, source control systems, build, and test automation.
• Manage directly senior technical leaders and Engineering Managers
