The Infrastructure Engineering & Operations team is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and creative problem solver as the new Director of Cloud and Data Engineering!
In this role, you will lead a team that supports critical revenue-generating services such as MTG: Arena, Magic/D&D tabletop, R&D, standalone studios, BI message ingestion & warehousing as well as consumer-facing web applications. As a key leader, you will be called upon frequently to provide proven, cost-effective cloud infrastructure, studio development tools, and data warehousing technologies, in a timely fashion, that meet the needs of our customers.
What you'll do:
- Be responsible for the leadership of the engineer and operations of Wizard's cloud infrastructure and data warehousing services.
- Develop and complete cloud infrastructure and data warehouse roadmaps that align with the emerging technology needs of Wizards. Analyzes and recommends emerging technologies that can provide business value while reducing cost.
- Lead a team of engineers, developers, and managers that participate in the design, specification, and implementation of business and technology projects, and that is responsible for providing 7x24 on-call support.
- Maintain an understanding of emerging architecture concepts, methods, and associated technology trends as it relates to internal and external cloud services as well as data ingestions and warehousing.
- Support alignment to relevant SOX, PCI, ITIL, corporate security, and other applicable compliance standards.
- Act as an escalation point for technical and operational issues related to infrastructure, studio development tools, and data warehouse services.
What you'll bring:
- 10+ years working with or in support of critically important systems.
- 5+ years managing teams of individual contributors and technical managers.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with engineering cloud infrastructure services in a medium-large environment providing consumer-facing services.
- Must have extensive experience managing large, multi-tenant, public cloud environments with knowledge of database technologies such as data warehousing/message ingestion, and application development.
- Strong communication skills both in person and in writing. Ability to communicate effectively with technical resources as well as with senior leadership.
- Experience managing an infrastructure budget of 10M+ with a consistent record of effective cost management.
- Extensive experience with instrumentation and gathering application-level telemetry for consumer-facing applications.
- Familiar with software development and engineering work management methodologies such as Agile/Scrum and Kanban.
- Familiar with the concepts of continuous delivery and continuous integration.
