Head of Business Development - Project A. Esports

In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends which has since gone on to become the most played PC game in the world. During this time, Riot has developed League of Legends into the largest esport on earth, and the fastest growing sport in the last decade. You will join an R&D esports team tasked with carrying on Riot’s track record of success in esports by building a new esport around an unpublished R&D title-- Project A. We will design the foundational structure of the sport, operating major international tournaments, defining global policies, selecting strategic partners, crafting a revenue and fan growth strategy and coordinating local esports ecosystems. Our mission is to build the next global sport. That’s where you come in.

As the Head of Business Development, you will report into the Head of Esports and will grow our sport’s revenue. You will create a sponsorship strategy and coordinate with partners and regional Riot sales teams to expand our suite of premier partners. You will shape our distribution strategy and spearhead media negotiations with global platforms. You will lead a team to help shape the sport so that it can grow into a global esports business. You will be an essential representative of our sport to the industry, partners and fans.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate revenue-generating business opportunities for an R&D esports title, Project A
• Produce revenue through sponsorship deals from sourcing, structuring and closing through campaign implementation and partner retention

Required Qualifications:

• You have 10+years experience in the field of sports sponsorship, media sales and business development.
• You have experience working and negotiating with internal and external partners
• You have experience achieving excellent results collaborating with other teams across the globe
• You are a fan of sports or esports

Desired Qualifications:

• You have experience participating in sports or competitive gaming
• You have experience leading successful contractual negotiations

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes your fellow Rioters, who are the customers of your work. Being a dedicated fan of games is not necessary for this position!
