Exploding Kittens is seeking to hire a driven, open-minded, and technically strong Director of Accounting who is passionate about accounting operations and driving process improvements. This role requires excellent technical accounting skills, strong knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, organization, and ability to manage and work with various cross-functional teams. In this role you will lead the Accounting department in key operational processes and systems including billing, procurement, revenue, operating expenses, monthly close, and financial. This role reports to the SVP of Finance and Operations.
HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE:
- Oversee the general accounting function, which includes, monthly-close, cash management and reconciliation, financial reporting, balance sheet management (including inventory related items), royalty and commission management
- Manage the accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) transactional functions: customer invoicing, credit memos, deductions, chargebacks, cash receipt applications, vendor invoicing, cash disbursements, accounts receivable aging, accounts payable aging, etc.
- Lead, coach, mentor and train the team; take an active interest in their career and development and find ways to continue their growth and development
- Liaise with FP&A and business partners to generate, record, reconcile, and maintain accrual balances and monthly budget versus actual analyses
- Management of all financial reporting and serve as the main point of contact during audits (internal, external)
- Collaborate across departments to improve controls that impact financial reporting including refining processes, policies, procedures, documentation, and information systems
WHAT WE NEED:
- 7+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Equivalent Company experience or BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; CPA is a plus
- Experience leading accounting operations, monthly accounting close, and preparation of financial reports
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting is critical
- Demonstrated ability to form, lead and develop high-performing teams
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions
- Based in Los Angeles, CA but can also hire for: AZ, IL, MI, MO, NY, PA, TX, and WA.
