We are seeking a Director, Software Engineering to lead all aspects of the implementation and development of technology for Magic: The Gathering®. Managing multiple engineering teams, you will be working closely with Product Management, UX design, QA and our Business Partners to ensure your technology projects are delivered to a high standard. Your secondary responsibility will be to your peers in the Platforms organization; this role helps the organization grow our leadership bench through active mentoring/coaching as well as recruiting and retaining top technology talent.

- Be accountable for defining and achieving the goals and objectives associated with the various projects assigned to your teams.
- Be a manager of managers, growing and mentoring the next generation of leaders at Wizards by modeling and expecting excellence.
- Foster collaboration, common purpose, and ownership by building partnerships and community centered on full ownership of the users’ experience and a continuous improvement attitude.
- Ensure your teams are staffed appropriately and have the skills and tools required to hit our business objectives.
- Continually improve your skills, stay ahead of new technologies, and always raise the standard for what is possible on your team.
- Build robust, verifiable systems with a high degree of testing and automation.
- Focus on the customer and design with their experience in mind.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can work on a wide variety of technologies and applications.
- Operate services at scale and build out robust operational monitoring and reporting.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary, distributed teams with progressively larger scope and impact. Experience leading through culture and organizational changes is strongly desired.
- Teachable expertise in building infrastructure automation and infrastructure as code in a DevOps and SRE environment for distributed, high-availability, scalable systems in a public cloud.
- Passion for working in the games industry and an interest in Wizards products and supporting our growing digital ecosystem.
