Director Regional PR EMEA

Job Summary:
Square Enix, the company behind some of the world’s most popular action and RPG brands including Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Dragon Quest, is looking for a motivated, passionate and experienced communications professional to join our team and help take our business to the next level. In this role, the Public Relations Director will excel at both developing and implementing creative and strategic go-to-market PR campaigns that drive business objectives with precision.
This person will possess extensive media relations experience, have expertise in translating complex concepts into broadly digestible stories and have strong self-management and leadership skills. This is a highly- visible role requiring engagement with senior leadership at Square Enix, as well as studio leadership across the globe.
Requirements
Key Deliverables:
- Develop and implement high-impact, creative PR campaigns for the Square Enix portfolio of games across EMEA. Incorporate these campaign ideas into the Regional Go-To Market plans for each title.
- Partner closely with regional marketing, influencer relations and social media leads to create impactful, integrated programs that support the company’s business goals.
- Possess and maintain strong relationships with games industry media.
- Deliver positive, on-message press coverage across all media platforms, including the social channels of top tier media.
- Manage an in-house team, as well as PR agency partner(s).
- Responsible for media training spokespersons and ensuring they are on-message during press interviews.
- Direct and oversea digital and physical events that drive traditional media coverage and content creation.
- Provide Regional PR Reports & Analysis
- Lead the creation of post-mortems that will drive the evolution of our PR practices across the organization.
- Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges and reactive media issues in partnership with communications leadership
- Set objectives for the PR team and monitor performance, proactively pivoting as needed.
- Manage and lead personnel assigned to the EMEA team. Ensure that personnel have clear goals and development plans. Provide timely, regular feedback and recognition for work.

Knowledge & Experience:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s (BA) degree preferred in journalism, communications or marketing.
- High level of experience in gaming communications, technology or consumer products.
Desirable:
- Japanese language skills and/or experience working with Japanese corporations is a plus

- Possess a strong understanding of the power of traditional press, online communities, streamers and influencers
- Passion for and current understanding of, evolving communications trends
- Proven ability to lead and influence diverse groups of people to achieve desired results
- Executive presence, presentation skills and professional maturity
- Possess project management, problem solving and analytics skills. Strong written and verbal communications skills is a must
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and resolve issues in a professional manner
- Flexibility and willingness to independently navigate areas of unfamiliarity
- Independent worker (i.e., takes initiative and works well with little supervision)
