Your Mission
Blizzard Entertainment seeks an experienced Director of Production Finance to serve as a senior financial business partner to the Development leadership across all franchises at Blizzard. Examples of our franchises include World of Warcraft ® , Overwatch ® , Diablo ® , Hearthstone ®, and other unannounced projects.
In this role, we are looking for someone who thrives in being a key strategic partner to key stakeholders in the development organizations (e.g., Head of Development, Executive Producers, Production Directors) and will provide operational and process leadership. The Director is responsible for driving key finance processes within the development organization including, but not limited to financial forecasting / budgeting for the studios, resource planning, multi-year strategic plans, and providing key strategic financial consultations to the development leadership. In addition, this position helps to drive Development department quarter-end reviews, manage operational risk management processes, and partner with key business leaders to optimize and support the business expansion and resource scaling. As the lead for consolidated reporting and planning to the development organization, the Director will require interaction throughout the entire Blizzard organization.
The candidate must operate successfully in a global, results-oriented environment, and have the ability to influence the decisions of senior business leaders through effective verbal and written communication, logical reasoning, and the presentation of alternatives. The successful candidate must be able to think and act both strategically and tactically. Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial, as well as ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical requirements, and prioritize.
Covid-19 Hiring Update: We’ve transitioned to a work-from-home model and we’re continuing to interview and hire during this time. This role is expected to begin as a remote position but will be eventually based in our headquarters in Irvine. We understand each person’s circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore possible interim options.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead all finance functions for the various Blizzard studios, and interface with various levels of management across studio operations and Finance
- Oversee, consolidate, and manage the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) functions including AOP, forecasts, multi-year strategic plans, variance analysis, and preparation of executive review materials for the development organization
- Partner with stakeholders in the Development and Finance community to identify opportunities to expand and ensure efficient resourcing across all studios
- Draft studio resourcing business cases and provide financial support for resourcing projects
- Establish consistent greenlight P&Ls across the studios
- Oversee and drive financial process and system improvement initiatives
- Oversee the quarterly close process (e.g., accrual recommendations), working closely with Accounting team on variance to forecast analysis and other related accounting topics (e.g., product capitalization, amortization)
- Work closely with the stakeholders to ensure title-related and overhead costs are properly funded, allocated correctly, and on budget
- Manage a team of 1-2 staff
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience, showing responsibility progression, in financial management and requiring strong technical and analytical skills
- Previous experience as senior finance manager for at least 3 years, partnering with senior business leaders in studio/production finance operations with a large development workforce
- A track record of success working in a team-based environment
- Strong leadership, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Financial Planning & Analysis experience within a multinational organization
- Prior experience managing forecast submission and close processes
- Prior experience conducting financial analysis and to influence key decision making
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
- Ability to communicate written & verbal business intelligence to senior leadership
