Director, Media Strategy

Job Description
Accountable and responsible for the strategic management, oversight, and matrixed implementation of best-in-class media strategy and planning. Individual will closely collaborate with internal partners, and is responsible for the management of agency partners to ensure the development and execution of media strategies and the delivery of business results. Sets the direction and ensures the execution of planned media strategies that enables Magic Leap to deliver value propositions, while also driving a holistic approach to media that will yield the greatest levels of effectiveness and efficiency for the company.
Responsibilities
- Establish strategic vision of holistic media strategy, planning and purchasing by collaborating across the organization to provide thought leadership and strategic media-related solutions that support the company mission and business objectives
- Apply a multi-stakeholder mindset to all areas of media strategy, planning, and purchasing while ensuring the development and implementation of business aligned media solutions that impact the agreed upon performance indicators
- Organize and continuously strengthen team structure and initiatives that drive and support strong business results and optimize business outcomes
- Drive integrated media strategies across traditional, digital, lead generating and other properties intended to build and strengthen brand awareness, drive activations and strengthen relationships with prospective customers and member audiences
- Establish and manage an effective media governance process that ensures alignment to mission and drives impactful support for multiple brands channels presenting varied health related solutions
- Continuously analyze and communicate the efficiency and effectiveness of media related efforts through the lens of brand reputation, channel mix, third party stakeholders, and customer impact
- Apply emerging consumer data and analytics to create innovative media solutions that advance business objectives
- Continuously advance, leverage and optimize the relationship with agency partners by building trust and maintaining positive rapport to drive business results
- Consistently stay on the forefront of emerging media trends and apply new methodologies or approaches being able to ideate on new approaches based on changing corporate objectives or consumer trends
- Develop and manage test plans to support learning across all media forms, including objectives, execution and performance analysis
- Develop a conceptual framework for the sales organization to approach advertisers at a strategic top-down level in order to demonstrate specific category and client KPI's
- Share subject matter expertise with teams throughout the enterprise - ensuring both strategic direction and support; develop and ensure adoption of standardized tools and processes wherever relevant
- Develop and regularly communicate key performance indicators and assessments for optimal media performance; drive evolution to a fully integrated, collaborative approach to planning
Qualifications
- 7-10+ years' related work experience or equivalent combination of transferable experience and education, including 3+ years' direct management experience
- Integrated experience working with a mix of traditional, digital and lead generating media strategies and properties
- Highly creative and demonstrated passion for developing and driving innovative media strategies and plans
- A proven track record in development and implementation of strategic media plans, and successful experience in collaborating with others to achieve expected results
- Experience in successful integration of marketing, brand positioning, and creative media strategies and processes
- Curiosity and entrepreneurialism with the ability to collaborate with others to set a vision, orchestrate a process to execute on that vision, establish an effective governance process, and influence and inspire others
- Strong program and project management experience with the ability to drive projects from conception to completion
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with a willingness to continually embrace personal and professional development
- Broad executive level thinker with the ability to relate business trends to enterprise strategies and opportunities; ability to understand marketplace dynamics and relevance and implications to business strategy
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively manage change, resolve conflict, collaborate across the organization, and demonstrate the highest standard of ethical conduct and integrity
- Experience working closely with media agencies or background working in media agency environment
- AR/VR industry experience
Education
- BA/BS Bachelor's Degree in Marketing/Communications or related field
- Master's degree MBA (preferred)
