Job Description
The Director, Marketing Strategy & Sales Insights and Analytics is responsible for insights, analytics, intelligence and reporting to provide accurate and timely market, sales and competitor information to support strategic and operational decisions for both Marketing and Commercial organizations. The individual will leverage internal business intelligence sources and external 3rd party market data and research to provide insights and KPI tracking to ensure the success of marketing and commercial objectives.
The priority of this role is to drive delivery of insights and analytics around competitor information, marketing performance, sales optimization and ad-hoc modeling and forecasting. This role identifies emerging opportunities, validates and supports marketing plans, campaigns, upcoming product launches, ongoing commercial efforts and strategic initiatives. This also includes market segmentation, market strategy, planning and enabling commercial performance.
Responsibilities:
- Identifying and collecting market and competitor data
- Support sales and commercial enablement efforts, including development and evolution of lead scoring and reporting and CRM
- Data analysis and reporting with presentation of findings to leadership teams cross-functionally
- Performs macro trends analysis, industry/category assessment, social media insights
- Aggregating data while analyzing the empirical impact for the marketing and commercial organizations
- Proactively producing/developing intelligence reports and insights
- Reports on monthly/quarterly Marketing and Commercial KPIs and metrics
- Provide insights through presentations and reports to senior management to enable effective strategic decision-making implementation
- Create and update industry and competitor data models including but not limited to market share and growth projections trends, including sales projections
- Develop and maintain lead scoring models
- Develop and evolve sales reporting mechanisms in Sales Force
- Develop, evolve, and maintain sales CRM strategy, communications, and reporting
- Develop and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders to identify emerging needs and business challenges
- Ability to articulate data and insights and provide an overall “picture” with strategic decisions to be made based on communicated objectives
- Work with the marketing and commercial teams to develop and track the appropriate KPIs
- Provide insights through presentations and reports to senior management to allow effective strategic decision-making and implementation
- Developing and monitoring marketing’s scorecard/dashboard to measure success for each marketing discipline tied to key objectives/KPIs
- Analyze marketing metrics to identify cause and effect relationships
- Conduct secondary research, including finding information from industry associations, statisticians and marketing experts
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of professional experience in marketing analysis, marketing intelligence, data visualization and commercial/sales enablement
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business or equivalent (MBA preferred).
- Experience in analyzing the integrity of a diverse set of data sources
- Ability to build data source architecture, finding overlaps in sources and choosing the best research and reporting methods and tools (agencies, software, integrations, etc.)
- Experience conducting and interpreting quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Demonstrated strength in problem solving and analytics
- Ability to articulate with strong presentation skills and excellent written communication skills
- Comfortable with complex Excel formulas and formatting
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadline constraints
- Ability to multi-task and set proper expectations for external team members in terms of timelines and deliverables
- Ability to network effectively at all levels and influence
- Has a solutions-oriented mentality and able to think creatively to solve complex problems
- Able to turn data into marketing intelligence and consult on marketing strategy, initiatives and campaigns
- Experience with data visualization, statistical analysis and research methods
- Experience managing a team and cross-functional spans of control
Education:
- BA/BS Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Data Science or a related field
- MA/MS/MBA Master's Degree (preferred)
