Your role within our Kingdom
The Director of King’s Corporate Communications will be responsible for creating and executing the communications strategy for the business. This leader will broaden visibility in the market by serving as an advisor to the operating unit’s executive leadership and promote the business in key communities. This leader also will drive the company’s goals, values, and visions through creative internal communications across the King enterprise.
External Communications (40%)
- Lead on all External corporate communications for King.
- Develop the objectives, measurement and strategy for a corporate communications programme to support King and Activision Blizzard’s Company Goals in the core markets (USA, UK, Sweden, Spain).
- Develop a group of spokespeople across the business for media and speaking opportunities.
- Liaise with teams looking after King and AB social media and deliver corporate messages on those channels.
- Head the in- house press office, including monitoring of press@king.com
- Represent Corporate Communications within the business.
- Lead on the proactive and reactive management of issues and crisis including criticism related to corporate tax and game addiction.
- Secure high level external speaking opportunities for company spokespeople and support them with preparation and training.
Internal Communications (60%)
- Lead on all internal communications for King.
- Develop the objectives, measurement and strategy for an internal communications programme to support King and Activision Blizzard’s Company Goals in each of the markets where King has employees.
- Run the monthly all hands meeting (Kingdom call), generating a pipeline of content across the business, managing the preparation of the call and ensuring it achieves high levels of engagement.
- Manage the delivery of Q&A events, and other employee engagement touch points.
- Manage the pipeline of content creation for King and AB internal communications channels.
- Lead on any change project communications needs that occur.
- Work with the leadership team to build and maintain their profiles within the organisation.
- Maintain relationships with key stakeholders including AB internal communications, the games teams, HR, and other corporate functions.
- Represent Corporate Communications within the business.
Skills to create thrills
The successful candidate is a hands- on leader, driving thoughtful and innovative approaches. S/he has the proven ability to partner with senior leaders to deliver on committed business targets and to positively influence the operating results at current and previous companies. S/he is highly entrepreneurial and comfortable in rolling up their sleeves. A strategic mindset and exceptional writing skills are a must.
Additional requirements include:
- 8- 10 years of progressive leadership roles with in- house or agency communications positions in growth environments with an emphasis on product communications. Preferred industries include consumer technology, media and entertainment.
- Personal presence, gravitas, excellent interpersonal skills, and the cultural sensitivity to work with a diverse, international team.
- Effectiveness in managing internal client expectations, navigating business unit and corporate stakeholders, with the ability to escalate appropriately. Experience working in a global matrix organization with multiple stakeholders
- Effective at C- Suite levels, communicating a passion and conviction in the business’ mission.
- Experience of leading the creation of corporate communications 360- degree strategies and campaigns.
- Ability to project manage including multiple PR agencies and a budge.
- Outstanding leadership skills with a history of leading world class teams and reputation for working well with a diverse group of colleagues.
- A calm and unflappable demeanour; tech savvy nature, egoless confidence, and an inspirational and open style.
- Creativity and out- of- the- box thinking; unbridled curiosity, passion, and strong critical thinking skills.
- Business orientation and mindset; excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated initiative in a fast- moving environment; proactive, roll- up- one’s sleeves attitude and a strong work ethic.
- Demonstrated open and collaborative style; comfort in a matrixed organization navigating ambiguity and change.
- Ability to work concurrently on and effectively prioritize a variety of projects, and to work under demanding deadlines while having a good sense of humour.
