Functionality Quality Assurance Director

JOB PURPOSE

As FQA Director for Montreal, you are responsible for inspiring and leading a team of 1,000+ people and overseeing the FQA Game Testing team and operations occurring in the Montreal Studio.

You are accountable for all the FQA Montreal studio operations including but not limited to P&L, quality of work, client relationships, and more. You will also be closely working with the FQA Service Line Director, other FQA Directors, FQA Managers, Studio Managers and Sales, to grow teams, both locally and internationally. You personally inspire local teams to always strive for and attain improvements and growth in order to develop services and processes within assigned studios and elsewhere, as part of the global Keywords FQA strategy.

The FQA Director is expected to travel to other studios, mainly FQA studios, as well as to VIP clients’ locations and relevant conferences across the world.

DEPARTMENT LEADERSHIP

• Proactively solve issues and seize improvement opportunities with your superior, colleagues and employees.
• Collaborate with other FQA Directors to align business approach and processes across the organization.
• Partner with other Senior leaders to build and influence a culture of change, improvement, growth and new ideas within your immediate team and partner groups.
• Instills a collaborative approach within the team, other departments, and globally to maintain a high level of quality and to be responsive to the needs of the employees and clients.

EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

• Set inspiring and measurable goals, guide the team towards them, and measure progress.
• Foster an environment of autonomy, creativity and innovation and facilitate the technical and non-technical skills development within your teams.
• Personal support, mentoring, and professional development of your Managers.

CLIENT MANAGEMENT

• Track client relations and project progress with your Managers.
• Manage top-tier client account management.
• Participate in and lead proposal and pricing exercise efforts where necessary.
• Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships and encourage and grow your own team to do the same.

DEPARTMENT MANAGEMENT

• Track and manage studio and department macro KPIs, including budget-based studio P&L’s, working with local Finance to resolve issues and ensure data accuracy.
• Take part in local studio initiatives and communications to represent FQA interests, delegating to your Managers when appropriate.
• Maintain relationships with key local Studio POCs (IT, HR, Studio, Facilities, etc.) and other game production service lines, supporting as required, to ensure FQA business needs can be met.

• Oversee all financials, resources, and headcount planning, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to business processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of people management experience with 2+ years of managing managers.
• Understanding of video game business services and processes.
• Knowledge of a project cycle and a games’ development process.
• Strong proactivity, ownership, accountability and responsibility.
• Strong leadership skills and decision making abilities.
• Strong emotional intelligence and awareness.
• Excellent written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
• Capacity to delegate effectively, including decision making where appropriate.
• Advanced skills with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience working within MS Office in general.
