Director, Engineering (Mobile Games)

PerBlue is looking for an experienced and passionate Director of Engineering to lead our experienced game developer teams. We’re a growing independent studio whose free-to-play midcore mobile games have been played by millions of people around the world, including the award-winning Disney Heroes: Battle Mode .
Our team brings together experience from major video game studios and technology companies. Headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, we also work remotely throughout North America for an unmatched quality of life and work.
You’ll play an important part in creating amazing experiences for our fans across the world. This new position for our studio will manage our front-end, gameplay/engine, and back-end development teams. You’ll help us develop better processes, provide great ideas for our teams’ career development, and help develop an evolved vision for our development and delivery infrastructure.
We’re seeking solid experience in creating applications and systems that are used by millions of people. You’ll drive consensus among our engineering team leaders to solve problems and develop forward-looking systems and processes. You’ll lead meaningful technical discussions about all aspects of application development as a true technology leader, someone with innovative ideas and the ability to lead and enhance our high-performing team of technologists.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on bare-metal application coding experience to include 4+ years of technology team leadership
- Expertise with architecting and optimizing distributed systems
- Practical knowledge of technology team development, including career pathing, professional development, and retention

- A passion for all things related to architecture and programming with amazing technical skills
- Strong remote management skills; this position will manage a remote-first team
- Strong attention to detail and a constant desire to learn new things

Other Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience managing team leads/managers
- Cloud experience
- Prior experience at a game studio (mobile, console, or PC)
