Reporting to the SVP of Corporate Development, this individual will be responsible for sourcing and building relationships with game studios and related businesses across Latin America, laying the groundwork for securing transformational partnerships for Scopely. Scopely is looking for a hard-charging BD / Corp Dev professional that will execute on Scopely’s strategic initiatives in the region, including acquiring and otherwise entering into strategic partnerships with Latin American game developers. You will ensure that Scopely’s developer partners across LatAm are set up for success, serving as an initial contact within Scopely and laying the groundwork for organizational alignment between Scopely and our partners. Scopely is looking for an industry expert who understands both the challenges that game developers face as well as what makes the best partnerships work.
What you will do:
- You will be Scopely’s first point of contact with game developers across Latin America for all potential new strategic partnerships, from publishing to investment to acquisition
- You will work closely with Scopely’s Corporate Development team, Slate Development Group, Central Technology Organization, Divisional Presidents, GMs, and other teams to ensure that Scopely builds a best in class studio ecosystem in LatAm
- You should understand how to identify a quality team, what their core skills are, and be able to articulate this to various internal stakeholders
- You will need to articulate the Scopely vision to potential partners, and identify how we can most effectively partner with studios
- You will need to develop a deep understanding of the Scopely Operating System
- You will travel internationally and will need to have an appreciation for and understanding of the way business is conducted in different parts of the world
- You will build relationships over the years and have an endurance style business approach
- You will forge strong relationships with premier independent game developers and the key people they employ, gaining an understanding of the challenges they face and goals they hope to achieve
- You will assiduously keep tabs on industry trends and up-and-coming studios by obsessively analyzing the market, including attending industry events and conferences
What you will need:
- 7+ years of business development, developer relations, studio management, production, and/or free-to-play gaming experience
- Spanish and English language fluency required, Portuguese preferred
- A deep understanding of the videogame industry and how it is evolving
- A love of games, particularly free-to-play games
- A proactive, entrepreneurial approach; we’re looking for a self-starter who is obsessed with improving the way we work with partners and how great games are made
- Strategic acumen, coupled with a growth mindset
- The desire to work and play well with others
