Director, Business Development, Scopely Japan

Scopely's Tokyo office is searching for an experienced,creative thinking, hard-working Director of Business Development who has a passion for gaming and exceptional communication
skills. This role will be expected to interact with 3rd party developers, publishers and platforms around the Asia region, as well as interface with Scopely Team members around the world. The Director will report to the General Manager for APAC with dotted lines into Business Development leadership located in the Culver City, Los Angeles Headquarters.
As we continue to expand our pipeline of world class developer and distribution partners, this role will be instrumental in negotiating strategic partnerships in the Asian region that enable us to scale our business in an efficient and cost-effective manner. As the developer ecosystem continues to evolve rapidly, and local/regional distribution challenges persist, this role will also be responsible for maintaining key partnerships and re-evaluating our approach from time to time in order to optimize the business.
What you will do:
- Drive strategic developer partnerships and M&A evaluations, from deal sourcing through due diligence and eventually closing
- Develop and maintain relationships with top game developers, including attending conferences and visiting potential partners on-site
- Interface with cross-functional groups within the publishing organization and our external studios to ensure that our partnerships are healthy and our agreements are up to date
- Assess and evaluate our distribution options that factor in global platforms (Google, Apple etc.) as well as regional (i.e. LINE, Daum Kakao, Tencent) players.
- Assess and evaluate alternative business models and payment solution platforms in key emerging markets (S.E. Asia, India)
What you will need:
- 5+ years in mobile gaming, developer partnerships, and/or business development
- Proven ability to forge strong partnerships and drive deals from sourcing through closing
- Deep knowledge of the global mobile gaming developer ecosystem; having an established network of potential partners is a big plus
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- The ability to present to and influence senior leadership; you must be able to drive action and impact in a complex and fast-paced environment
- Intellectual curiosity, creative problem-solving acumen, and drive
- Native level in one Asian language (Chinese, Japanese or Korean) plus English fluency
- A high level of integrity, candor, & humility
- Respect for others and a collaborative spirit
