Director, Build and Release

Job Description

As the Director of Build and Release, you will be responsible for Magic Leap's Software Build and Release Organization, leading multiple Leads and Managers. You will be a thought leader, influencer championing Agile best practices within the Build and Release Organization. You will own & drive the CI/CD & Build infrastructure, process and execution, while working closely with the SW Engineering teams. You will be interfacing with the Magic Leap Core Platform Software teams, QA teams, Program teams, SOC vendors, partners and customers building solutions on the Magic Leap platform, and contributing to the product delivery at Magic Leap.

Responsibilities

• This is a senior leadership role, managing a team of Build and Release Leads & Managers.
• Lead the Build and Release process with the best Agile CI/CD practices, within the SDLC.
• Provide technical leadership and direction for a team of Build and DevOps engineers.
• Collect, analyze requirements from the software organization for new solutions.
• Collaborate with the IT Technology Solutions team to implement and ensure highly available systems for software organization developers.
• Lead the teams owning the automated version control systems, software artifacts management tools, final build release and deployment etc.
• Maintain, migrate, and plan new features for the Jenkins CI server used by the Platform OS and SDK teams.
• Plan, own and support software releases to external customers.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of SDLC experience, with Build and Release ownership.
• 10+ years of team management experience.
• Strong communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate and drive solutions across the Software Organization, championing Agile methodologies.
• Prior experience working with Program teams, SOC vendors, partners building applications using platform SDK.
• Strong verbal/written communication skills including presentation to senior leadership.
• Experience deploying, configuring, managing and automating CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins/Concourse and others
• Expertise with the scripting languages such as Yaml, Python, Bash and Groovy, and source control and review systems such as Git, Repo and Gerrit.
• Experience in Android OS, Framework and Applications is a plus.
• Excel in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple projects using a wide variety of cutting edge technologies

Education

• BA/BS, in Computer Science or relevant field, considerable weight will be given to hands-on experience and prior accomplishments
