Ce que tu vas faire

• Participer au processus créatif du projet ;
• Être responsable du développement d’outils et d’une librairie de script ;
• Travailler en étroite collaboration avec les autres animateurs dans la création de leurs animations avec les outils disponibles ;
• Travailler et coopérer avec tous les services dans le développement de jeux ;
• Offrir des solutions techniques à l’équipe de Direction du jeu, afin d’augmenter la qualité du produit final ;
• Collaborer étroitement avec l'équipe de Capture de Mouvement du Studio afin d'assurer un pipeline clair et efficace entre les sessions de Mocap et la traite des données une fois rendues en animation ;
• Soutenir l'équipe d'animation dans la traite des données de Mocap en offrant des formations, en développant des outils d'automatisation, etc ;
• Responsable du pipeline technique de la création des personnages et de leur intégration dans le jeu.

Ce que tu apportes

• Diplôme en animation 3D ou formation équivalent ou expérience pertinente ;
• 8+ ans d’expérience en Animation 3D dans le jeu vidéo, au moins 1 an à titre de Directeur Technique Animation ;
• Minimum de 2 titres publiés, préférablement nouvelle génération ;
• 2+ d’expérience en scriptage ou en programmation (Maya Tool Scripting un atout) ;
• Expérience en résolution de problèmes qui proviennent des outils ou scripts de façon rapide et efficace ;
• Excellente capacité à organiser et structurer son travail.

Habiletés techniques

• Connaissances des contraintes technologiques des différentes plateformes ;
• Connaissances des logiciels d’animation incluant MotionBuilder et Maya ;
• Connaissances des pipelines d’animation (Cinématique et en jeu) ;
• Connaissances et expérience dans la construction d’arbres d’animation ;
• Excellente connaissance dans le traitement et la conservation des données de capture de mouvement ;
• Être capable d’effectuer plusieurs tâches à la fois ;
• Doit posséder une excellente capacité à donner et recevoir des directives ;
• Excellente connaissance technique des éditeurs de jeux vidéo et des étapes de production ;
• Excellentes habiletés de communication ainsi qu’une facilité à illustrer ses idées sont essentielles ;
• Une connaissance des aspects techniques de la création des personnages est un atout (incluant rigging, skinning, etc) .

• Faire preuve de leadership et collaborer avec les différents métiers (conception, animation et programmation) ;
• Doit être à l’aise dans une équipe orientée sur l’amélioration constante ;
• Être capable d’apprendre des autres et partager ses connaissances ;
• La maturité pour donner et recevoir des critiques constructives est attendue ;
• Un désir de repousser les barrières de l’animation en jeu vidéo est requis.

Animation Technical Director Permanent – Full-Time

What you will do

• Participate in the creative development of the project;
• Assume responsibility for the development of tools and a script library;
• Work in close collaboration with the other animators on the creation of their animation with the available tools;
• Work and cooperate with all departments in the game development;
• Offer the Core Direction team technical solutions to raise the quality bar of the end product;
• Work closely with the Motion Caption studio team to make sure that the pipeline is clear and efficient between Mocap sessions and the data processing once rendered in animation;
• Support the Mocap team in the Mocap data processing by giving training, developing automation tools, etc;
• Technical ownership of the Motion Capture pipeline for character creation and their integration in the game.

What you bring

• Diploma in 3D animation or equivalent/experience;
• 8+ years experience in 3D animation in the video game industry, at least 1 year as a Technical Director Animation;
• Minimum of 2 published titles; Next generation experience a plus;
• 2 + years experience in scripting or programming (Maya Tool Scripting a plus;
• Experience in problem solving related to tools or scripts in a quick and efficient way;
• Excellent capacity to organize and structure own work;

Technical Skills

• Working knowledge of hardware platform limitations;
• Knowledge in Animation software including Motionbuilder and Maya;
• Knowledge of animation pipelines (cinematic and in-game);
• Knowledge and experience in building animation trees;
• Excellent knowledge in processing and retargeting motion capture data;
• Ability to perform multiple tasks;
• Excellent ability to give and receive guidance;
• Excellent technical knowledge of video game publishers and stages of production;
• Excellent communication skills and a facility to illustrate their ideas are essential;
• Knowledge of character creation in a technical sense, a must (including rigging, skinning, etc).
  
  

Interpersonal Qualities

• Demonstrate leadership when collaborating with the various trades (design, animation and programming);
• Ability to work within a team focused on continuous improvement;
• Ability to share knowledge and learn from others;
• The maturity to give and receive constructive criticism is expected;
• The drive to push the boundaries of videogame animation standards is a must.
