As a Visual Design Director, reporting to the Head of Experience Design, you will guide the visual direction of the UI and will play an essential role in defining Skate's design system. You will also lead and mentor UI designers on the Experience Design team.
Responsibilities
- You will provide direction to establish the UI visual design direction of Skate's design system
- You will working with XD leadership and other partners to determine long-term design strategy and roadmaps
- Provide direction and prioritization of UI visual and motion design tasks
- Ensure the quality and consistency of Skate's design system and its implementation
- You will help establish UI workflows and pipeline
- You will establish UI best practices for visual and motion design for the team to guide and measure work
- You will lead and mentor UI designers
- Organize meetings to guide progress against goals and establish clear next steps
- Articulate strategic rationale for design decisions across all levels in the organization
Qualifications Please note that you do not need to qualify for all requirements to be considered. We encourage you to apply if you can meet most of the requirements and are comfortable opening a dialog to be considered.
- 5+ years of experience leading design teams
- Advanced level of experience as an interface designer, product designer visual designer, graphic designer, motion designer, interaction designer, or similar role
- Experience establishing best practices for UI implementation with UI visualization and content creation tool
- A portfolio of work that showcases relevant work that contains well thought out process and excellent craft execution
- Experience managing talent, budgets and hiring plans
- Understanding of user centred design process, accessibility and usability principles
- Efficient at presenting and rationalizing design strategy and decisions to diverse audiences
- Proficiency in current design software applications (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Figma, Sketch..)
