As Development Director you will be tasked with creating clarity, improving collaboration, reducing tension, and building trust across all levels of the development team. You will leverage your unique combination of people leadership and deep understanding of project management to architect the work systems that allow developers to do their best work. As a senior leader you will take a systematic approach to problem-solving with a big-picture focus, while using your mentorship skills to assist other leaders at a team level. While the Development director’s focus is highly strategic, you will be part of a small team development culture. This means you should also expect to roll up your sleeves and get dirty, helping with some amount of day-to-day project management needs including rituals, planning, and facilitation.
Responsibilities:
- Drives Work Culture - Collaborates with Executive Producer & project leadership to drive the culture of how we work
- Defines Work Systems - Develops the tools, process and rituals needed to effectively track project status, risk, and velocity
- Guides Process – Excels at change management. Works closely with project leaders to effectively communicate change and roll out new initiatives across the organization
- Leads Execution – Organizes teams, run efficient meetings, process reviews, and continually evolve/improve based on stakeholder feedback
- Champions Transparency – Provides transparency around project risks, and ensures stakeholders are properly informed of impact from priority changes
- Mentors Others – Invests in team growth, mentoring other producers, project managers and team leaders
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of organizational / Sr. leadership experience
- 10+ years of industry experience in a production or project management role
- Project management expert, with a focus in broad range of agile methodologies
- Proven ability to roll out agile transformations customized to meet team needs
- Experience scheduling and scoping large multi-team projects & initiatives
- Experience leading, growing, and mentoring project managers & producers
Desired Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of game development process across entire product life cycle
- Background in JIRA administration, working knowledge of additional PMT tools
- Prior experience working in a development craft (Art, Design, Engineering, etc)
- Passion for games, particularly multiplayer games
In the United States, the standard base pay range for this role is $175,000 - $235,000 annually. This base pay range is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S., and those interviewing from outside of the U.S. can inquire accordingly. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience and performance. In addition to competitive base pay, employees in this role are eligible for equity, healthcare benefits, flexible paid time off, paid family leave, company-wide holidays, and relocation assistance where applicable.
