Striking Distance Studios is currently seeking a DevOps Cloud Engineer to join our team and help build our cloud and storage systems from the ground up. In this role you will be a significant contributor, not only to the SDS IT/Security team but a key partner to the game studio DevOps teams. You will also be responsible for building and monitoring the health and security of the SDS cloud infrastructure, working with cloud/SaaS providers, and responding to day-to-day operational requests. You will possess solid technical skills, including experience in multi-cloud systems, storage environments, build environments, and cloud operations.
Your responsibilities include:
- Serving as a trusted resource for the cloud engineering environments throughout all the stages of development
- Supporting CI/CD operations in an “always-on” distributed cloud architecture
- Evaluating and adopting technologies that improve team efficiency and platform capabilities.
- Working with the development team to implement innovative technologies and providing support to external studios
- Developing scripts and utilizing automation for system builds and administration
- Maintaining documentation of systems configurations and procedures, including operational runbooks
- Supporting cloud storage backup, replication and recovery
- Monitoring and improving current cloud/security tools, including incident management, provisioning, and access management
- Supporting security activities such as system hardening, patching, and scanning for vulnerabilities
- Staying abreast of current trends and best practices for your discipline and related systems
You will be a perfect fit if you have:
- Must have experience building Unreal Engine including Light Baking, Shader Compilation, Packaging at AAA scale
- Experience with distributed secure networking from remote offices and sites, cloud connectivity optimization and accelerated transfers.
- 5 years’ experience in IT with relevant cloud/security experience
- Intermediate level knowledge of cloud-based environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) desired
- Experience in identifying and resolving technical/security issues during systems implementation
- The ability to participate in multiple projects concurrently, effective at time management and organization
- Intermediate problem solving abilities, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Good understanding or ability to rapidly learn new technologies
- Passion for the gaming industry, cloud or security discipline
- Great collaboration skills and ability to work as a team across multiple disciplines
- Great communication skills, as well as good interpersonal and relationship building skills
Qualifications and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- AWS/GCP/Azure Cloud certification desired with DevOps specialization would be helpful
- Scripting and automation skills in Python, bash, or similar.
- Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
- Knowledge of CloudFormation, Terraform, or “infrastructure as code” automation tools.
- Experience with CI/CD, Unreal, Jenkins and pipelines.
- Experience with Perforce or equivalent repositories.
- Experience in Atlassian Suite such as Jira, Confluence, Opsgenie.
