Our QA team at Insomniac Games is growing and we're looking for a rock star Dev Support Specialist to join the team!
As a Dev Support Specialist, you will be responsible for testing to facilitate for the rapid correction of complex issues including crashes, art corruption, and improper play through breaks that negatively impact the functionality and the end consumers experience and opinion of the product as an embedded tester in the pod structure of the team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Works closely with assigned development pod including, but not limited to, the following duties:
- Provides ownership of assigned game areas from a QA (Quality Assurance) perspective, throughout the production lifecycle.
- Attends daily/weekly pod meetings (e.g., syncs, stand-up, etc.) and conveys updates and actions steps to team members as required.
- Creates, maintains, and assigns out Test Cases/Runs for the QA team based on pod features
- Acts as representative of QA and liaison between pod and QA team to ensure information is disseminated appropriately.
- Produces daily/weekly reports updating the status of the assigned pod with respect to QA.
- Provides testing for game features and development tools and identify root issue(s)
- Determines test priorities and timelines for pod
- Possesses ability to communicate the most complex bugs in a clear and concise manner
- Prioritizes testing based upon risk or impact to final game and player experience.
- Identifies process improvements to build testing efficiencies
- Provides mentoring to junior members of team
- Writes clear documentation on testing practices and techniques.
- Communicates with leads and other departments, as well as publisher Leads and QA members, to help coordinate testing issues, check status of items, etc.
- Creates task breakdowns and generates estimates during the early planning stage of development for assigned game features
- Other duties that may be assigned
Education and/or Experience: Two to five years related experience and/or training; or combination/equivalent of education and experience.
Other Skills:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, along with strong knowledge of Photoshop and Visual Studio a plus. Knowledge of Jira or (other bug tracking system) required.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work as member of a team.
- One must have the ability to provide clear and understandable written documentation with reproduction steps for reported bugs.
- A strong understanding of bug tracking software; of development cycles; and of general QA practices.
- Extensive understanding of general game terminology; and a passion to learn new technologies and systems with high degree of ownership.
- The ability to meet responsibilities without supervision, and a willingness and ability to work overtime as needed.
