Destiny Associate Prop and Interactive Artist (New Grad / Early in Career)

Bungie Studios is seeking a talented individual to help create stunning visuals for awe-inspiring worlds and activities. In this role a candidate will be collaborating with VFX, world art and activity design to create activity featured props and interactable assets. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for someone who’s looking to mix it up and wear multiple hats, from modeling and shading, to light animation and VFX hook ups.
NOTE: Eligible applicants must be graduated from a college, university, or related program within 12 months, or planning to graduate this year, or moving from primarily learning to primarily working within 12 months or transitioning from one craft, function, or discipline to a new one
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with VFX artists, world artists, activity designers and creative leadership to create dynamic props and player-interactable assets for use in our activities and events
- Modeling and UV map prop geometry
- Author realistic, futuristic, and sometimes, fantastical textures for multiple shader functions such as albedo, normal, roughness, metal, and detail maps
- Choose when to leverage existing shader libraries and environment texture trim sheets
- Use your knowledge of industrial and mechanical design to build technically complex and animated models
- Work with tech art / tech design to provide assets conducive to gameplay hook-ups
- Basic asset rigging and animation / pose setup (ex. Doors opening, fans spinning, etc)
- Simplified VFX creation, shader editing, and hookup
- Work with production to ensure deliverables meet the defined objectives, defined quality bar, and schedule
- Meet the quality bar established by the Art Director
- Promote a culture of collaborative innovation
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Efficient communication skills
- Strong eye for asset legibility
- An interest in multiple art disciplines and how they coalesce to create immersive player experiences
- Solid understanding of surface development, proportion, and mechanical functionality
- Knowledge of Photoshop, Maya, Max, and other 2D/3D applications
- Knowledge of PBR shaders
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
- Be task driven, self-motivated, and proactive
- Strong organizational and analytical skills; attention to detail
NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS
- Experience with robust game engine(s)
- Experience collaborating with fellow artists, game designers and other disciplines
- Knowledge of current content building techniques
- Experience with Substance Designer
