- Own a subset of features on a AAA console title, focusing on player and enemy systems
- Work collaboratively with the Game Directors, Leads, and other members of the design team to plan, prototype, and build shared player and enemy systems that align with the game's overall vision and goals
- Lead a small team of designers, promoting team creativity and growth while ensuring quality standards are maintained
- Create clear, reusable player and enemy systems that are well-documented and can be easily integrated into the game
- Evaluate and initiate processes and features needed to improve and streamline gameplay production
- Maintain, test, and iterate player and enemy system-based features from concept phase to final tuning for an award-winning AAA game
- Document game mechanics and features quickly, clearly, and concisely in a provided specification format to serve as a resource for other designers in the studio to understand the various design concepts and the decisions made that support them
- Collaborate with other disciplines, such as programming and art, to ensure clear communication, troubleshooting, and efficiency
- Maintain up to date knowledge on industry trends as it relates to modern gameplay design for action-adventure games
To be considered for this role, you must have...
- Experience as a lead, principal game designer on a professional game development team, on a high-quality current-gen console title (or equivalent)
- Deep understanding of game design theory and principles of what it takes to make a AAA title
- Experience designing shared player/enemy systems, interaction paradigms, and combat systems
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine and associated visual scripting tools, such as Kismet or Blueprint (Blueprints preferred)
- Demonstrable organized approach to problem-solving and time-management to meet strict production deadlines
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and effectively communicating with internal dev teams (with a focus on technical collaboration with engineering
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks and projects

The pay range for this role includes the annual base salary, not including bonus and the generous benefits package that Crystal Dynamics provides all full-time employees. Individual compensation is determined by work location within our approved states, as well as additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education. Your recruiter will be able to share more information about total compensation.

$120,000 — $160,000 USD
