2K develops and publishes interactive entertainment globally for console systems, handheld gaming devices and personal computers, including smartphones and tablets. 2K is a leading publisher of today’s most popular gaming genres and most well-known for critically acclaimed game franchises like NBA 2K, WWE 2K, Bioshock, Borderlands, Evolve, XCOM and the beloved Sid Meier’s Civilization.
What We Need:
2K is looking for a Senior Director of Technical Infrastructure to help lead technology strategy, process methodology, architecture, day to day operations, long range initiatives planning, collaboration with cross-functional business leaders and partners, and management of a dynamic team providing service delivery for 2K Games. The teams consist of architectural engineering, network operations, site reliability, technical portfolio, program, and project management to lead architectural engineering, infrastructure operations, and it’s programs. The ideal candidate will have great technical depth in the field of cloud computing and server infrastructure, exceptional operational and people management skills, and a high level of integrity.
Success of this role hinges on your technical aptitude, quantitative abilities, and business acumen. You treat stakeholders as a partnership - you are there from ideation to execution and understand that we only succeed if we succeed together.
What You Will Do:
- Develop and maintain processes through building change management and orchestrating rolling changes into production for worldwide development teams while maintaining network availability for our millions of fans around the world.
- Lead, implement and maintain a comprehensive strategy for secure, scalable, high availability and cost-effective on-premise and cloud, global technology infrastructure
- Oversee production infrastructure that supports 2k’s fans with a mix of 2k-owned and public cloud hardware.
- Drive automation and optimize processes and procedures that aid with development for our internal and external game studios.
- Strategize and educate our internal cross functional teammates for future proofing existing and new data centers on a global scale
- Develop prod-dev infrastructure hardware to support our studios’ work to develop games.
- Ensure networks connect our fans to the games and our employees to each other with seamless, secure and reliable data.
- Implement 24x7 infrastructure and end user support across all office locations worldwide.
- Define and monitor operational metrics and OKRs while benchmarking where possible against the market
- Lead the development and evolution of technology standards to achieve business objectives for game publishing.
- Partner closely with the Security team to deliver a highly secure infrastructure physically and logically.
- Manage and develop a team of 50+ employees across multiple locations globally.
- Partner with customer support and customer relations to provide communications to fans when outages occur.
- Provide internal engineering teams a customer driven approach with transparency and metrics to create confidence in technology.
- Work with teams to integrate 2K technology into games in a CI/CD pipeline to streamline game development.
- Oversee and mitigate outages that impact employees and games in production and development.
- Maintaining all global infrastructure in public and private cloud and maximizing system up time everyday throughout the year
- Lead business pursuits, and negotiations as they pertain to technical infrastructure and development efforts.
Who We Think Will Be A Great Fit:
- 10 plus years working with technical operations
- Experience with game development platforms and processes, building architecture on AWS at scale and experience/knowledge with microservices architecture.
- Deep technical knowledge of global-scale infrastructure with ability to influence decisions around capex and opex implications
- Management background 10+ years, experience managing distributed employee network preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple global teams and projects simultaneously
- Strong relationship-building and networking abilities
- Automation and agile methodology
- Knowledge of capital projects and strategy
- Outstanding critical thinking skills with the ability to solve unstructured problems
- Understanding of change management at a global scale
- STEM background
- Understanding of ITIL and six-sigma
- Superior communication skills, written and verbal
- Willingness and ability to travel to global regions
Required Technical Skill Sets
- Architectural Design, DevOps, Automation, Cloud
- Microservice implementations (AWS EKS, Kubernetes, Docker)
- Understanding of IP networking and IP media standards
- Understanding of the three major cloud vendors (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Enterprise logging/alerting implementations
- Enterprise hosting and management (VMWare, Cloud)
