Job Description

If you are looking to use your knowledge of data science to create insights in a renowned video game company, this is the job you have been looking for. In a newly established team, based in San Francisco and Montreal, you will get to influence how we work with data science as you generate insights that are actively put to use. This position is embedded in the e-commerce team (Montreal office).

What you'll do

As a scientist, you will get access to a large panel of tools corresponding to different steps of the analysis. The most commons are SQL/HiveQL for data extraction, Python/Spark for data analysis and Tableau for data visualization.

The team is fully transverse as we are working with production, marketing, CRM, media, licensing, sales and finance. We are here to help when the questions start to be complex.

You will be part of a team based in Montreal and San Francisco but you will also work with other analytical teams based all around the world, especially Montreal and Paris.

Your mission will focus on the Ubisoft Store where we are selling our games and many merchandises related to, such as collectibles, clothes, books…

To provide the best insights and recommendations you will have to connect the data from the store with all the tracking we have: game, email, web, media and sales. By helping defining the consumer journey, you will increase the revenue and the ROI of the Ubisoft store.

To optimize the ROI of the store, you will build an attribution model and a lifetime value model customized for the shop taking into account merchandises beyond games: collectibles, clothes, books…

Our Hadoop ecosystem is fresh from the press. Your input has a key user will be to influence its quality by discussing with the other data scientists (Montreal and San Francisco) and the data architects (Montreal).

Daily activities in the Data Science team

To give you an idea of the past and current projects, please find below a non-exhaustive sample of our daily activities.

The CRM data are composed of millions of players, who they are, what they played split in two databases on Hadoop, the other on Teradata. We have built different models which permit to cluster players for emailing campaign or to select players for betas.

The brand and production teams are always eager to know better their players. To do so, we are using the game tracking data, hundreds of billions of events per game, to know their game behaviors and hence help to shape the brand and production vision.

The analytics have a close relationship with the executive management and we are often asked to quickly present an analysis about a hot topic.
