As part of the Data Protection Team, we act as business partners to our game development, IT, commercial, and business operations teams. Through these partnerships, the Data Protection team has developed tools and processes to ensure that our customer's rights to access or delete their data are made available to them.
We are looking for a Privacy Engineering Manager to manage, develop, maintain, and report on our data protection efforts, ensuring that these systems, tools, and processes are available and function properly. The Privacy Engineering Manager will support the Data Protection Team in other areas to include: liaising with highly technical teams and engineering staff at Blizzard, supporting data governance and privacy by design, program management of on-going programs and projects, and support business analytics and process documentation as required.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage software efforts for Blizzard’s Data Protection & Privacy tools that handle privacy requests from our customers and employees.
- Manage all operational KPIs for Data Protection’s software.
- Ensure that technical programs, projects, goals, objectives, milestones, and deliverables are achieved on schedule and within scope and budget.
- Facilitate and create appropriate project documentation, communicate status updates, drive decisions, and identify & eliminate risks and blockers.
- Lead a high caliber technical team to build and operate world class, scalable distributed systems.
- Manage and execute against project plans and delivery commitments within an Agile/Scrum environment
- Collaborate with the business, legal, and Data Protection teams to create product vision and requirements.
- Align with engineering peers and leadership around the company to ensure the team builds high quality, maintainable software.
- Work in partnership with other technologies team to develop architectural guidelines and impactful decisions on systems, frameworks, and approach.
- Manage relationship with other technical teams and attend regular technical meetings to review design and project status.
Qualifications
- Minimum of continuous 7 years in Software Engineering or Computer Science
- Minimum of 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
- Experience leading a technical team (including a combination of experience hiring, mentoring, managing performance, and providing technical leadership and design guidance)
- Experience building distributed and high availability software systems that have been successfully delivered to global customers
- Knowledge of best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Programming experience in programming language such as C, C++, C#, or Java
- Experience with production or consumption of web services (ex: REST, SOAP)
- Understanding of relational databases, such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MSSQL.
- Experience with variety of structured and unstructured formats, such as JSON, CSV, or XML
