About the Role
At Data Engineer we are focused on gathering and implementing requirements from stakeholders to build robust Big Data and Machine Learning ETL systems tools and services on what they need to improve our decision making. Our current tech stack for data processing is composed of cutting-edge open-source projects like Presto, Flink, Spark, Airflow, Kubeflow and cloud infrastructure. The challenge here is dealing with +2PB of historical data and Spark/Flink streaming for near real-time and real-time processing with a volume around 400k RPM. For this role what we want is to increase the quality of managing projects, increase productivity, mentoring our engineers and ensure that we are working on high impact projects.
Who you are
- You have leadership capabilities, leading development activities, being a team player and a mentor for other team members;
- Strong technical background with proven experience as a Software engineer, Data Engineer, Data Science or Machine Learning Engineer;
- Enjoy working with complex business logic and deal with large scale to build low latency systems;
- Smart and creative, both, you have the ability and persistence to solve problems, big and small. Curious by nature, you're constantly looking for ways to improve upon things;
- Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities both independently and collaboratively;
- You're flexible, fearless, and excited to help build something;
- You're hands-on, in the right ways; willing and able to do what's needed to deliver great results.
What you’ll do
- Plan and manage various tasks and projects across the Data Engineering team by clearly identifying priority, resources, impact, deliverables, and success metrics;
- Work closely with recruiting to build high-performance engineering teams;
- Drive internal process improvements, identify and remove gaps, and ensure the team is working on high impact projects align with company OKRs;
- Drive interfacing with cross-functional teams including game development, data science, engineering and marketing;
- Facilitate and participate in regular status meetings with internal and other stakeholders, while owning all critical communications;
- Provide hands-on project management during the development process and post-deployment;
- Owner the scrum stand-ups, sprint progress, velocity, retrospectives and status reports.
What you'll need
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering (All fields) or a related field;
- Prior management experience, leading Data Engineer, Data Science or Machine Learning Engineering teams Teams and projects;
- Good experience with data Centred languages like Python, Scala or Java;
- Must be analytically oriented and have previous experience with data extraction and analysis;
- Expert knowledge of production tools and agile methodologies;
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
- Comfortable working with cross-functional teams, external technology vendors (like Databricks, Looker), and partners in a friendly constructive manner.
Plus
- Experience with Software development;
- Developer Experience using Docker and Kubernetes;
- Experience managing projects based on open-source software;
- Experience with Data Analytics (BI tools).
