The role of Director, Data Management and Governance, is an important role in the company’s Chief Data Analytics Office, and requires experience and expertise in successfully deploying Data Governance across global enterprises. The primary purpose of this role is to drive and manage the Enterprise Data Governance Program, which includes Information Architecture and Stewardship practices as well as Data Management and Quality processes. In addition to this, the role will be responsible for;
- Experience must include hand’s-on management of people, processes, and technology, as well as capability related to the standing up Data Governance organizations and deploying data management quality process improvement initiatives
- The ideal candidate will possess expert skills in both the tactical and strategic aspects of Data Governance, and will be readily equipped to hands-on manage associated initiatives and governance workstreams
- Coordinate strategic executive steering committee and tactical Data Governance working group meetings while preparing appropriate content to be shared in advance of the meetings; assist the VP of Data Governance in facilitation of meetings
- Collaborate with leaders across operating companies and various lines of business to prioritize Data Governance use cases and oversee the execution of agreed upon priorities, working with Data Stewards, Data Owners, and Data Custodians
- Managing consistency of data elements, Metadata and Data Quality issues for Aristocrat’s enterprise systems that will help the business to utilize data assets at their fullest capacity and ensure that all available data is ‘fit-for-purpose’.
- Defining and implementing policies and procedures for the day-to-day operational and administrative management of systems and data — including the intake, storage, processing, and transmission of data to internal and external systems
- Establishing data-quality metrics and requirements, including defining the values, ranges, and parameters that are acceptable for each data element
- Outlining procedures for detection and correction of data-quality issues and collaborating with partners to establish policies, procedures, and internal controls affecting the quality of data
- Engaging in the ongoing and detailed evaluation of data quality, the identification of anomalies and discrepancies, and the contribution of expertise to understand the root cause and implement corrective measures
The selected candidate will manage the correct governance environment at Aristocrat to ensure common data taxonomy; improve role-based data access; data-driven automation for key business practices as possible; and assurance of the Enterprise in the quality of data in use at Aristocrat, whether originating from internal or external sources. The position will manage data controls and oversee testing of those controls for efficacy. The selected candidate will ensure compliance with existing policies and procedures regarding data governance, and partner with other key business functions, IT, and end-users in all aspects of Data Governance and Data Management across the Enterprise.

Excellent relationship management and consulting skills with proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; set direction and approach, resolve conflict, execute with limited information and ambiguity
- Exposure to multiple business units to understand the linkages and dependencies
- Experience in dealing with all levels of management in highly complex organizational dynamics requiring adaptability, boldness, and creative forward thinking
- Conduct project meetings with stakeholders and project teams, and create transparency of project status, risks and constraints
- Aggressively manage risk mitigation, remediation, and contingency strategies
- Prepare, deliver, and disseminate project briefings and reports as needed and or requested
- Manage multiple and potentially dissimilar programs and projects
- Lead and engage with project teams, business leaders and other executives
- Keep current on project management best practices, and obtain or maintain related credentials in good standing
- Design, develop, and manage the implementation of recommended processes and procedures
- Drive operational excellence to improve performance, maximize value, reduce waste, increase efficiencies, reduce costs / errors / defects, and improve metrics of overall key performance
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience the Data space
- 5+ years of leadership experience
- Demonstrate success managing Data Governance frameworks to global and cross functional users
- Demonstrate success in planning and executing high value projects based on strategic direction, expected outcomes
- Demonstrate change management capabilities
- Meets challenges consistently and confidently with energy and drive. Motivated by results, urgency and personal commitment
- Possesses high integrity and exceptional work ethic. Fosters mutual trust and respect, and is an excellent team player
- Experience in online gaming, content or Media & Entertainment industry is a plus
- Able to work effectively in a highly complex matrix environment, with a proven ability to influence without formal authority and achieve results through people
- Understands the link between excellence in data acquisition/warehousing/insights, and how to leverage this as a competitive advantage in the marketplace
- Applies effective communication techniques, engages in focused dialogue, and demonstrates good listening skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Outstanding oral, written and communication skills with the ability to present to small and large groups including Global Executives and deal with unexpected questions and challenges while presenting
- Excellent and proven project management skills
