We certify games and services to meet EA Standards as well as 1st Party Requirements, maintaining Industry leading predictability. Our teams provide a scientific and data-informed point of view on player needs, experiences, and feedback at all stages of development.
The Data Engineering Services Team
The Data Engineering Services team provides self-service business intelligence tools, technology and processes which enable QVS to be a truly data-driven quality verification organization. Our team supports every EA game and service. We are a global team of experienced data engineers, data analysts and game industry veterans that will help you to succeed in this role.
What a DES Data Specialist Does
- Use custom ETL tools to set up SQL queries supplied by game team DAs.
- Troubleshoot existing SQL queries.
- Use SQL and Excel to map fields from various EA Jira projects to a central database.
We are looking for someone who is curious and has proven that they can work with changing deadlines and priorities on multiple simultaneous projects.
Requirements
How a DES Data Specialist Works
- Executes on customer requests with a high level of quality.
- Triages new issues, investigates root causes, and submits stories for engineers to resolve.
- Works closely with our data engineers to verify the accuracy and consistency of their efforts.
- Creates reports to monitor the quality of our data systems.
- Communicates with internal customers on their data needs.
- Writes documentation for both internal technical requirements and for end users.
- Participates in daily team meetings and provides status updates on their work.
Required Work Experience and Skills
- Manually querying relational databases with SQL.
- Creating data visualizations.
- Proficient with SQL query writing tools.
- Writing SQL queries using temporary tables, window functions, Common Table Expressions.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Power BI and/or Tableau.
- Know how to use Microsoft Excel for data analysis and connecting to external data sources.
- Strong written and verbal English communication.
Nice to Have Skills
- Ability to translate between Transact-SQL, PostgreSQL, and MySQL
- Experience with SQL Server Management Studio
- Comfortable with pgAdmin and MySQL Workbench (or phpMyAdmin)
- Experience with an issue tracking system (such as Jira)
- Ability to write technical and end-user documentation
- Experience with version control software (Git, Perforce, etc.)
- 1-2 years of relevant experience (education or industry) with SQL and data analysis
