We are looking for an experienced data engineer to join the Irvine team and help architect and maintain the New World game data services.

You'll work closely with the game designers, server engineers, security engineering and other supporting groups to maintain and evolve the New World data pipelines, queries, and infrastructure. Additional engineering work will occur in supporting fraud, security and cheats by evolving and operating queries necessary for successful moderation and customer support actions.

Key job responsibilities
· Architect scalable data pipelines that handle millions of events per second in a cost-effective manner using AWS technologies including Lambda, Airflow, Spark, EMR, Glue, Kinesis, Redshift/Spectrum, Athena and Elasticsearch
· Create automated ingestion, processing, cleaning and aggregation of large data sets
· Design user access controls that allow partial and complete data access to large and diverse groups of users
· Work closely with game team designers, software development managers and product managers to build data solutions.
· Work closely with Amazon corporate services to deliver data to other business units ( Business intelligence, Finance, Marketing)
· Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes

Basic Qualifications

· Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
· 5+ years of industry experience in data engineering, with a track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets
· Experience in functional programming languages (Scala, Python, Perl, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience working with AWS big data technologies (Kinesis, Lambda, Redshift, S3, EMR, Elasticsearch)
· Experience with Airflow or other similar ETL tools
· Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for best practices on data engineering
· Demonstrated strength in data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing
· Experience using big data technologies (Airflow, EMR, Columnar Data Warehouses, Spark etc.)
· Knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles
· Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing
· Proven success in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy
· Familiarity with statistical models and data mining algorithms
· Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
· Experience with game engine tech (Unity, UE4) and C++
