About the Role

Strategic analytics uses quantitative analysis to answer strategic questions, develop new metrics, and inform the mental models of leaders. Our focus is on providing high-quality data-specific answers to the most important questions at Twitch. Our work usually comes directly from executive questions and has a high impact not only on our teams, but also to help improve how our viewers and creators navigate Twitch.

As a member of our growing team you will report to the Head of Strategic Analytics and deliver high impact data reports and data insights to our executive team. This is not a position where you will be A/B testing or dashboarding every day. Instead, you will work on projects such as defining who our most important users are at Twitch, helping set up metrics to be used by other teams, writing retrospective explanations of what drove sitewide or localized growth, and helping executives identify and size strategic opportunities. Our outputs are a mix of white papers, data tables, and SQL queries that are used and read by tens or even hundreds of your coworkers. Your work will have an influence across nearly every team and your deliverables will help make everyone at Twitch smarter about how they think about anything and everything on the platform.

You Will:

• Write papers to answer questions most important to our executive leaders
• Improve company-wide mental models of how Twitch works
• Be among the first people that coworkers go to when wanting answers about how our users interact with the platform
• Work alongside other data staff in guiding and defining metrics
• Collaborate on papers that will set the standard for how we think about our data at Twitch for years to come

You Have:

• 3+ years experience working with data to shape strategy decisions
• 1+ years experience doing data analysis or strategy for a website or app
• Expert fluency in SQL-based data manipulation with the ability to write fast , efficient SQL queries on large datasets
• Understanding of statistical concepts like regression, decision trees, and basic statistics
• Experience summarizing complex data down to the "so what", especially for a non- data savvy audience
• Ability to make beautiful graphs and tables that can be consumed quickly and easily by executives

Bonus Points

• Experience working with R or Python, especially with graphing or statistical packages within each (ggplot or numpy)
• Working knowledge of Twitch and how the site works
• Experience working for a video platform company
