Creative Lead, Franchise Partnerships

Do you wield a sweeping knowledge of the lore and gameplay of Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering? Would you love collaboratively driving creative decisions, alignment, and execution of those IPs across myriad new offerings?
Wizards Franchise Development Team is seeking a highly knowledgeable and passionate Creative Lead to help grow our Franchise IPs into new consumer products and media expressions. This role works primarily with external partners as a subject matter expert on our IPs to ensure authenticity in new expressions. We are looking for a teammate who enjoys navigating new creative questions and challenges, working closely partners, providing concise and timely feedback, and striving to find innovative solutions.
As a Franchise Creative Lead, you are an inspiring communicator and negotiator, a constant consultant for external partners on questions of content, IP appropriateness and quality and a strong contributor on our ever-developing internal efforts. You embrace previously unexplored spaces, can adapt management and communication styles to suit ambiguous situations and different working styles, often across multiple cultures. You routinely present updates and developments to key team members with confidence and transparency.
What You'll Do:
- Serve as the Franchise point of continuity for partners on assigned products and projects, providing clarity on IP and creative questions when answers exist and working collaboratively to find new answers when they do not.
- Act as a steward of the creative translation of Wizards’ various IPs across efforts, ensuring appropriate creative consistency, integrity, design, and quality.
- Coordinate the review, comments, visual asset deliveries, and feedback in response to submissions from partners. This includes owning relationships and approvals for some licensees.
- Maintain creative alignment between Franchise leadership and partners, using your keen judgment and deep knowledge to balance Franchise direction with the unique needs of each new effort.
- Look for opportunities to amplify creative consistency between concurrently developing projects and efforts.
- Contribute to the creation of Franchise-level creative guides to deploy across brands.
- Coordinate with external loremasters and internal partners to ensure every content decision is appropriately informed.
What You'll Bring:
- An impressively deep knowledge of either Magic or D&D and a very strong knowledge of the other, which will be further developed.
- Experience with content creation, iteration, and stewardship.
- A passion for judiciously applying subject matter expertise to find or craft answers for new questions and needs presented by media development and new efforts. We need a partner who is fully informed by our past but is devoted to the stewardship of our future!
- A love of embracing new challenges and new information every day.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to elegantly present difficult concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- A track record of building highly effective interpersonal business relationships.
- Willingness to travel in a safe, post-COVID world.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in product development and/or licensing.
- You will need to be or become proficient with tools including Brainbase (our licensing management software) and FMP.
