Creative Director – Brand

Creative Assembly is looking for a Creative Director to join our Brand team based at our studio in Horsham, in the heart of West Sussex.
In this new role, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading creative services and direction in support of all franchise title marketing campaigns.
Flexible working at Creative Assembly includes hybrid, fully remote within country of employment for eligible roles, and in-studio. We recognise that there is no one-size-fits-all approach and empower our teams to define the working patterns which work best for them, which may mean different things for different teams and roles and at different times.

Key Responsibilities
Passionate and driven about the audio-visual design space, you will lead a number of creative teams in providing brand design, support and asset origination for brand and marketing campaigns across the Creative Assembly portfolio.
Responsible for the creative marketing output of a new internal service and consultancy group within the wider Brand team, your leadership, management, and keen design eye will support dedicated title Brand Managers and marketing teams on each of our franchise titles.
We’re looking for an experienced creative lead, with both team management and consultation skills. Able to be at home mentoring an extended team of highly creative professionals and providing fresh and innovative thinking around design executions across a variety of assets and media.
Ensuring consistent, high-quality standards, driving best practice, and pushing our campaigns and design elements into new spaces, you’ll likely have a long personal history of being deeply involved in the creative process and have a proven track record of building and managing talented teams and relationships.
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Collaborate with Brand Managers and Directors to help define the brand design and creative asset elements that go into connect our games with our players
- Work across a variety of teams producing a variety of asset types – from graphic and brand design to advertising campaigns, trailers, video and live stream execution
- Manage and grow your creative teams; understand their skillsets, develop personal plans and training opportunities, and mentor and coach your senior staff
- Plan resourcing to budget and time, meet the demands of a busy roadmap and know when to say no and how to say yes
- Foster productive and essential relationships across the brand marketing and game art teams to leverage the look and feel of our titles and create distinction
- Understand and champion the target audience of your teams’ output; be the voice of the player and the brand strategy in our design executions
- Devise and support key processes and practices; seek efficiencies, opportunities for your teams to shine and areas to innovate.
Knowledge, Skill and Experience
Essential
- First hand commercial design experience, preferably in an entertainment or FMCG sector
- Experience and skillset in conceptualising and ideation, ability to convert strategic messages into effective communication campaigns across a variety of media
- Team leadership of multi-disciplinary teams; directing and managing creative staff
- Clear understanding of modern design processes and requirements across multi-channel marketing campaigns
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines, with product, technical, marketing, and commercial stakeholders
- Proactive and process-driven approach to working with stakeholders to identify requirements and support execution
- Ability to prioritise and deliver to deadline, motivate teams and individuals and put people and their experiences first.
Desirable
- Experience working with agency or other multi-disciplinary creative service environment
- Advertising, promotional acumen and demonstrable experience of collaborative working across multiple stakeholders
- Experience working in or alongside a video game publishing organisation and an understanding of platform-holder and typical third-party relationships
- Keen gamer and voracious devourer of cross-cultural influences of all sorts
- Project management experience or qualifications.
