Role overview:
SIE is looking for a talented lawyer to help develop and drive privacy strategy in an international and market-leading video games, entertainment, and technology business. This role will report to the Legal Director, Privacy, EMEA and is essential to empowering the SIE business to deliver the best entertainment experience while mitigating privacy risks and earning trust by transparently and responsibly using data.
This role provides an opportunity to work on pioneering technologies such as interactive entertainment, content streaming, and virtual reality, and to counsel product teams as they launch and deliver products and services to over 100 million users worldwide.
What you’ll be doing:
- Helping to shape our global privacy strategy and drive high-profile and high-impact privacy initiatives across the business.
- Supporting and advising key stakeholders on a broad range of challenging privacy issues and providing pragmatic and risk-based solutions which enable an exceptional customer experience.
- Continuously auditing and developing PlayStation’s privacy compliance program, and enabling compliance with key privacy laws, including GDPR, the Data Protection Act, and the e-Privacy Directive.
- Assisting with investigating, assessing, and responding to any data incidents, and responding to regulatory investigations and requests for information.
- Analysing privacy public policy and legislative developments, and interfacing with and influencing privacy regulators and policymakers.
- Drafting privacy notices and negotiating privacy terms in commercial contracts.
- Leading innovative privacy projects to help SIE scale, including by developing standardised policies, tools, processes and trainings for the Legal team and the business.
What we are looking for:
- A qualified lawyer with 5+ years’ post-qualified legal experience.
- Excellent knowledge of privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, the Data Protection Act, and the e-Privacy Directive.
- Experience of developing and implementing privacy compliance programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail.
- Experience of drafting and negotiating privacy terms and notices.
- The ability to identify and analyse legal issues quickly and accurately in ambiguous environments and to develop creative, scalable, and customer-friendly solutions by exercising excellent judgement.
- The desire to develop trusted relationships internally and to work in a diverse and inclusive team.
- Capability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- A keen business sense, and a sense of humour.
- In-house experience is a plus.
- A privacy certification such as CIPP/E is a plus.
- Experience in product counseling, the entertainment industry and/or with technology and video games is a plus.
