Corporate Controller

The Corporate Controller is responsible for leading our Finance team. This includes management of accounting and financial planning, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, taxes, and the internal control system as well as budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. The ideal candidate will quickly master proprietary tools and development processes to critically solve complex issues in a large group/multiple project environment and will be a key contributing member of our leadership team.
This role is best suited for a self-motivated individual who can respond to and work well under pressure while practicing effective communication. We are searching for someone who demonstrates high personal standards through their quality of work, professionalism, and the ability to function well within a team.
This is a full-time position available to work hybrid/remote or based out of BSE's Irvine studio.
The salary range being considered for this role is $125,000 - $175,000 USD. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance, and location.
Responsibilities- Serve as a trusted advisor to company leadership providing reports and insights that support robust strategic planning
- Lead, manage, and motivate accounting and financial planning and analysis staff including overseeing training, evaluation, and selection processes
- Develop a strong collaborative relationship with the entire Studio leadership team
- Maintain a system of internal controls to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and management’s policies
- Lead the coordination with outside accounting firms for audits and preparation of tax returns
- Manage and improve finance processes to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of financial information and to meet internal and external deadlines
- Prepare financial statements for management, the board of directors, and external stakeholders
- Manage and improve the company’s ERP, financial planning, reporting, and other systems
- Oversee preparation budgets , forecasts, and projections
- Maintain compliance with all US federal , state, and foreign income, payroll, and other tax requirements
- Research and evaluate the proper application of generally accepted accounting principles
- Manage financial due diligence requests from potential investors, banks, and other capital providers
- Assist with special projects as they arise
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- 10 years' experience in financial accounting including public accounting and accounting management
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, with an advanced degree in accounting, finance or business administration or CPA license preferred
Preferred Skills
- Experience with the design and implementation of internal control systems that are compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to research and apply generally accepted accounting principles
- Ability to manage and train staff to obtain high-quality results while maintaining a balanced workload
- Well-versed in corporate finance including Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Reporting, M&A/Corporate Development, and Strategic Planning
- Excellent time management, planning, and organization skills
- Very strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and build relationships with all levels of management
- Experience with ERP , and business intelligence reporting systems
