Would you like to work on some of the greatest franchises in gaming history? Certain Affinity, the largest independent video game developer in Austin, is comprised of a tightly knit group of experienced, no-nonsense veterans committed to solid work/life balance. We’re best known for co-developing numerous AAA FPS games, though we are also creating compelling new games of our own.
The Controller will lead all day-to-day accounting operations and have functional responsibility for accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, the monthly close cycle, and payroll. The Controller will ensure that the proper systems, controls, and procedures are in place to support the daily tasks of the company, as well as maintain GAAP compliance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounts and reporting systems to ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
- Manage all day-to-day accounting tasks including general ledger, payables, receivables, credit card transactions, payroll, account reconciliations, accruals, and tax
- Manage accounting for subsidiary including intercompany transactions
- Hands-on management of the general ledger and month-end accounting close process
- Prepare financial consolidations and reports, analyzing trends, and presenting to leadership
- Maintain internal control and safeguards
- Produce monthly cash flow forecast, including analysis and related explanations of variance
- Create monthly income statemenst and balance sheet forecasts
- Provide accounting records and support for the company income tax return preparation
- Prepare sales tax and HST tax filings
- Manage the data collection and submission process for all incentives, rebates, grant, and tax-savings opportunities; provide progress and issue tracking and regular reporting on these topics to senior leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field of study
- 7+ years of relevant accounting and management expertise
- Experience preparing GAAP financials for audit
- Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Enterprise and Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Track record of proactive, strategic thinking
- Driven to find and implement process improvements to optimize team effectiveness
- Strong problem solving and creative skills
- Proven management and leadership abilities
- Strong initiative, accountability and willingness to take ownership and drive projects to completion
- A desire to work in a diverse and inclusive environment
Extra Credit
- Certified Public Accountant preferred
- International accounting experience
