Infinity Ward is looking for an expert Technical Writer to build and maintain high-quality internal documentation for our Environment Artists, Modelers, VFX Artists, Lighters, and Game Designers. In this position, you will collect information on our tools (like our game engine toolset), processes, and pipeline as well as prepare written documentation, best practices, and visual media (like diagrams and videos) for our content developers so that they have all the information they need to work efficiently and optimally.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with our Tools Engineering and Tech Art groups to build content developer-facing documentation for our rapidly changing and evolving content workflows and technologies.
- Distill specifications and implementation notes from our Tools Engineers and Technical Artists into Artist and Designer-friendly learning and reference materials.
- Maintain and update our documentation, examples, and tutorials throughout each game production cycle.
- Proactively stay on top of changes and improvements to our content development pipeline and tools, and always look to improve the quality and visibility of the information flow to our Artists and Designers.
- Support our content developers by learning our pipeline tools and processes so that you can better understand their needs, difficulties, and unique workflows. Become a true user advocate.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience as a Technical Writer working with and writing about content developer tools for game development teams and/or similar development environments like film, television, or digital content creation (DCC) applications.
- Outstanding writing and editing skills with an attention to detail.
- Ability to understand and convey technical concepts to non-technical Artists and Game Designers with a high level of visibility and simplicity.
- Proactive self-starting problem solver and great teammate with a fondness for learning and sharing information.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with one or more game engines is highly desired.
- Familiarity with commercial graphics applications like Maya, 3DS Max, Houdini, Blender, or Photoshop is a plus.
- Familiarity with Confluence.
